For the friends of UBS I just found an option. :)

and the new full Ustream site is

as usual, Niji is running 4 minutes or so behind UBS. I am getting intermittent pixelations on Niji.

Wondering what injury Chiyomaru has and if he risks further injury continuing? Worried about him.

A funny thing with Niji: to check it I copied the video I was still recording (always as raw without watching in VLC): when I watched it, it already contained 2 minutes or so that were not yet shown on live Niji.

Niji was a nightmare even at three o'clock today- pixelated and lizards and what have you. I got lucky as it dropped only 2 bouts- Ichinojou and Hakuhou, the two anticipated ones today.. If this is how it's going to be, I will be a wreck by the end ot the week and dead by the end of the basho..

At least you had a proper internet connection!

Maybe my provider has lost interest in Sumo...

Thanks anyway for your fearless fight against the digital lizards!

My notes on how to watch NIJI on VLC (so you can adjust the video aspect ratio) includes the step: "Open Network Stream, and paste the following URL: http://127.0.0.1:8902/tv.mpeg." Last night that URL wasn't correct. Any idea what it should be? (no, I have not done this in a while, if there's a change in URL it could have happened a while ago)

Asashosakari had posted the new address before last basho: use just http://127.0.0.1:8190/ without the file name.

With "open network stream" that address remains - I never paste it anymore, just select convert and there saving as raw input and add a filename with ".mpg" (and path).

Another funny thing happened yesterday with Niji at the Fuji TV show containing much sumo. Niji had apparently crashed and I opened it again, started the recording as usual and as usual Niji had stopped after a while (teishi) when I was away. I had given up on the thing but when I checked later 4 hours had been recorded, looking good. The previous instance of Niji had remained somewhat active, the crash message which tries to find a solution had been trying so forever - I hadn't noticed it. Only after I canceled that the recording stopped.

Thanks for the update, I obviously missed it.

NIJI was strange last night. There was a lot of pixellating, which I passed off as being related to remnants of that solar storm. After that for a while, my entire screen went dark - dark screen, with audio. The video kept trying to come back but couldn't quite make it (it would come up for a few seconds, then go dark again). I finally got things shut down by holding down the power button. I restarted in safe mode, and then later in normal mode. Everything's seemed fine since.

I'm actually hoping it was something related to the NIJI hijinks (I wasn't running anything else video intensive at the same time), and that I'm losing video in my laptop.

Day 2 - Arrrgh!! It looks like UBS is on the move again. The Ustream links from Day 1 are off air tonight.

Niji is acting very strangely today. Very strange. It goes into a loop after a few minutes and then goes into a loop for another ten minutes..

NIJI is really funny lately. I have the loops and then it goes to "teishi". But unlike in the past, VLC continues recording with my method - in much better quality than NIJI live, without loops and much less lizards. I can't see it though - I have to copy the recorded file from time to time and watch the recording.

Edit: Before I can watch it properly with going to a position and fast forward, I have to make a copy conversion with XMedia Recode, very quick - it removes all the scrap from the loops etc, but the result has quite a few jumps - I lost 20 minutes from a 1hour recording.

After NIJI stops, the quality of the recording improves.

Well, the minute the broadcast started, everything went perfectly smoothly, except one drop right before the Takayasu-Takekaze bout. Other than that-like a dream.

Day 3 - Hee. Hee. UBS is back, TWICE !!

The new Ustream link is back live.

Embed: http://www.ustream.tv/embed/18283745

Site: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/ubs-mongol

It is also now active on Livestream.com, but it requires a account signup via Email or Facebook.

Follow the links on the base UBS site at http://www.ubs.mn/ubslive2.php for the signup.

The Livestream stream is free with a signup. The video quality is a little better than on Ustream, but it is still not top of the line.

More Day 3 - Niji coverage started with the first or second Juryo match. As usual, UBS started at about 4:05PM JST (during the Juryo/Makuuchi break),

Go to NIJI to download Niji . (Free with signup required)

UBS is active daily using Livestream. Sign up can be started here. (Free with signup) .

UBS via Ustream has been available intermittently. Try it, but don't be surprised if it is off line.

Does anyone else have sound issues with the UBS livestream feed? I have had no sound for the last 2 days.

Would be good to know before I start troubleshooting here. Thanks.

Start of NHK Sumo coverage is postponed today because of news reports about a heavy erruption of Mount Ontake vulcano in Nagano prefecture.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/sep/26/volcano-erupts-in-japan-injuries-reported/

:-(

Sure is impressive looking. There are reports of injuries, and I hope no one has been killed (there are reports of climbers in the area when it started erupting), the YouTube video of the climbers trying to get away from the eruption is nuts! (this volcanic mountain is erupting! run for your life, but take video too!!!). Anyone know what that building complex is they keep showing?

Well, no sumo for you today.. (I'm pretty sure they will do the second half). It is showing on BS ch 102, if anyone has that.

And have internet connection to upload it right in time to YT. :-D

Good question. A bigger extended mountain hut, I'd guess. Completely covered in vulcano ashes. Looks scaring...

Don't forget the NHK Makuuchi recap of the day at 1:40 a.m. JST (18:40 UTC+2). For the time being we have to live with this f*** vulcano.

2nd half to be on NHK educational - NIJI looks good there (now I get the lizards though).

Start at 5p.m. JST (+NIJI delay)
