Video Stream - Availability

Recommended Posts

Just tried to tune in to the UBS stream.

They showed a summary of yesterday's bouts but after that no live coverage of Day 7.

Am I using the wrong channel?

Okay, they are broadcasting it now, just a bit late.

Just loved how the stream kept buffering near the end of day 13. Match is about to start, then the Circle of Death appears, and when it clears the match is over. (Weeping...) It brought back those wonderful memories of when the NSK ran its own stream, and eternal buffering was the order of the day, throughout nearly all the matches. (at least it always was for my connection) (Sign of disapproval...)

I know, I know. It helps to refresh the page whenever there's nothing going on. Sometimes brushing the timeline and the pause/start icon with the cursor (sometimes I feel like calling it the curser) gets it going again, though that could be coincidence, and I sometimes have the page open twice and flick from one to the other, as they don't stick at exactly the same second.

Circle of Death

Curser

priceless! (Laughing...)

Let's hope that better streaming times are on the horizon with Softbank & SportsNavi!

does the UBS stream suck for anyone else today?

UBS appears to have gone to a subscription service for its live broadcast. The last I heard was that no one was successful getting its subscription to work outside Mongolia. Another streamer down the tubes??

I really don't get the idea of geo-blocking in the age of global Internet.

Maybe it is time to check back on the jpPlayer option (Hi-def NHK feed) I heard it is working again.

The fees are 10$ for 3 days, 30$ for 30 days and 200$ for 1 year.

You can get around this geo restricted location /geo-blocking with a vpn option.

What web page is this jpPlayer option or link?

Isn't jpPlayer some dubious p2p client like Niji? I'd rather not pay for piracy.

My VPN has a couple of exit node for local IP addresses in Japan. I primarily use this for geo blocked mmo's and music.

Is there a free local streaming option avalible in Japan? Or, do I have to wait for the broadcast rips to appear on YouTube?

I am not sure about Niji but jpPlayer went down for 2+ months. I think the 'authorities' were after them. I probably won't use them any more when the service I paid for ends but I will have to talk to 'the boss' about that before I can make a decision..... (Whistling...)

I just tried again to pay UBS by credit card, and the transaction was refused again, apparently by my bank but I'm not sure about that, Google Translate's efforts being not much easier to understand than the original Mongolian. Would somebody else like to try?

I had to sign in to try, and when I went back to the video page it was nevertheless playing 'Foul Dance Feature Film'.

Could this mean that we can still watch live without paying, but we have to sign in first again, as before?

I looked into my 'Order History' on the UBS site and got this in English,

and this in Mongolian. Perhaps my second try worked .Anybody here speak Mongolian?

There's no sign on my bank's site of any money going out of my account, at least not yet.

À suivre.

Isn't there someone on the forum who is from Mongolia or has a good command of the language?

That would be a tremendous help.

I've watched the UBS live stream for the past 2-3 years free. About 3 basho ago, I had to create an account, but there is no fee. (perhaps the paid account is for on-demand replays and movie offerings???) I just log on with my account password and watch. My Mongolian is limited and regret not capturing some screen shots when I navigated through the process. I will try to recreate, but now, because I have an account, am having a hard time getting to the original "create account" screens.

You're right. Last basho the paid service was just for on-demand replays from the archives and the live video stream was free without signing in. Before that, complete access was free, live and archives, but you had to sign in. Asojima was afraid that both the archives and the live stream were now available only if they were paid for, but it looks as if (fingers crossed) UBS might just be demanding again that viewers sign in to watch the live stream.

To create a new account you have to be signed out. You can go to the UBS homepage, translated here by Google - https://www.onair.mn/

You click on the UBS logo to get to the sumo live stream.

or go straight to the On Air page, where you find sumo, again without being signed in; http://tv.onair.mn/watch/ubs

They're in exactly the same place in Mongolian.

Oooops! Live UBS now appears to be back to normal. We may get live Ozumo after all. Last month, I was getting the request for signin and then the request for funds when I started UBS. Today, it looks like the old startup. I don't know if UBS was playing around again or if I had a browser cache/cookie problem. Life may be worth living again.

Yes, it seems it was just the change to a mandatory registration / log in.

I hope we will have some CYMO from the Garage Studio at UBS! ;-)

(I couldn't find any "CYMO" on tomorrow's progam schedule though. Let's hope they are just not accurate.
