Promo + Daily videos- Osaka (Haru) Basho 2014: Days 1-15

Recommended Posts

No picture so far on niji, which is not good for me..

NIJI software doesn't respond... :-(

I am thinking of spending some bucks on jpPlayer again.

On the bright side, the commentators over at UBS decided to have a rather quite day which means the original NHK comments can be heard quite well.

Now UBS is getting more and more choppy. Maybe it's just my tablet..?

Day 3, Makuuchi playlist

https://vimeo.com/album/2771263

With thanks to araibira I could watch (and compare) the dohyoiris of both yokozunas a couple of times. And I have to say that I found the dohyoiri from Harumafuji now more dignified than that one from Hakuho, which looked more sloppy to me.

We were not very lucky with NHK/niji up untill now for this basho.

Day 1: Paralympics

Day 2: Parliament debate

Day 3: niji fuck up

Tomorrow (day 4) there will be a Parliament debate again. NHK Sumo broadcast is scheduled to start late at 5:05 p.m. JST. *sigh* But maybe on day 5 we'll get a chance to see a bit more of the regular programme. On Thursday Sumo transmission is announced to start early at 3:42 p.m.

As a short remainder. NHK broadcasts a 25 minute Makuuchi recap everyday late after midnight sometimes between 1 to 3 a.m. Exact times change. Tonight it will start at 2:15 a.m. JST.

@Araibira

Seems that you are recording Mac system sounds/ beeps in your vids lately. Anyway, thanks a lot for going on whith your Sumo feed.

BTW Vimeo gives better video quality for me and network is somehow quicker than YT. At least for me. Mhh..

I don't know yet what to make of this:

http://japan.cnet.com/entertainment/35045074/

Apparently a free app for Android smart phones, maybe for dwango mobile users only, which allows you to watch real time all makuuchi torikumi, as a tanimachi member for 500 Yen a month you have a database of the bouts back 4 years ago to watch as much as you like. And several extras.

It started this basho, looks like any mobile phone using Android can use this Google play app – not only in Japan. For iPhones it should start later.

It would be interesting if somebody in Japan at the moment could acquire the app and then try if it works outside of Japan, too.

I don't use a smart phone, so I can't try it when I go there in May. And I also don't know if it is possible to fool the Google Play app store like NHK or YouTube and successfully pretend you are a smart phone user (registered?) in Japan.

Edit: I forgot that it will be hard to find a mobile that works in both areas

It won't be hard to find a mobile for both, cause there's been 3G in Japan for a while now. Any iPhone will work, and I assume newer Android phones as well.

Anyone notice that guy back near the locker room that kept trying to touch the wrestlers?

He does have mental disabilities so the rikishi are aware and tolerate his attentions.
