Promo + Daily videos- Osaka (Haru) Basho 2014: Days 1-15

Recommended Posts

Actually laughed out loud at the massive henka by Aminishiki. If there ever was a perfect henka, that was it. Great stuff!!!!!! (Applauding...)

Ichinojo 6-1. Are we gonna see him in Juryo next tournenemt?

See Asashosakari's excellent Promotion / relegation thread,

Ichinojo's promotion is almost a 'certainty' after today's win. Although one more Juryo space still needs to 'officially' open up. I don't think Kotooshu's intai creates more space,

I don't think Kotooshu's intai creates more space,

Since he retired mid-basho, he will not be in the next banzuke, so there will be one more spot to fill in makuuchi which will also need to be filled in every category.

Oh i'm not sure, I thought because there were 3 Sekiwake's this basho, it would simply return to 2 Sekiwakes in May, which would not impact things.

But I could be completely wrong. That works logically for me, but yes, things might be more complicated than I realise. I await for Asashosakari's evaluation.

Edit: I see now. The Ozeki's lobside things.. so M17e would be in play.

**By the way, Blue_Wolf, its probably better not to post results in the Videos thread. Rather use the basho discussion thread, as it has a spoiler warning

There are always 42 rikishi in Makuuchi. Kotooshu's intai reduces that total regardless of where he was ranked. One more Juryo will be promoted to fill the empty slot. Edited by Asojima

NHK news7 (hidden) video:
Day 12 - top: Kakuryu-HF (interviews) - later: Endo, Hakuho (comment) - http://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/20140320/k10013138141000.html

Since it is visible on Niji

Even better is Sunday Sports (only audible on free JSTV), 9:50 P.M. JST, with Oguruma-oyakata's analysis of the basho so far.

Somebody is posting some NHK sumo news to Youtube
Sunday sports

not quite so good is Saturday sports

Great Basho! This is the way it should be... both yokozunae in top form and an Ozeki nipping at thier heels. Plus great efforts from Goiedo and Endou as well right below them.

Kinta, as always, thanks tons for compiling these videos and making morning coffee awesome. First thread I read each day. ;) ( For my time zone Makuuchi bouts start around 1am)

Can't wait for tomorrow!

^You got another spoiler preview there. :-P

Still? Not on my comp. It was when I finished uploading but I immediately changed it to something else. If it's still a spoiler, I'm not seeing it. Anyone?

Goeido seems to hate being interviewed. Come to that he seems to hate being photographed as well. Why oh why then does he go and beat a Yokozuna? ;-)

Yes.

Got my picture taken with Ichinojo and Musashikuni yesterday. Nice guys. Musashikuni was particularly friendly.

Wow what a fight between Hakuho and Kakuryu, i really hope his hand heals perfectly, the thought of Hakuho injured worries me, i'm a fan of his invincibility and don't want him to lose that aura.
