Referee comments: Okay. Seeing as there is not a point scorer anywhere on either line-up. I believe this one goes down to PKs. Am I wrong here? I am confused a little by the rules of this match.

That is all for now.

Saruyama (THE monkey referee)

(Please let me know if there have been any screw ups on my part)

Rules for the finals?

The same as for the semi-finals. Remember we use the 3rd/4th play-off as well as the Final match.

Okay, who are the refiojis?

We only need five for the last round.

Well, let's look at the existing 7 refiojis still in the competitions..... Well, shimodahito and Saruyama are still competing. So, we'll let them focus on their key matches, and take the other five to be the last lot of refiojis. (If you are unsure of your refioji, send me copies of your line-ups (by email preferably), and we'll sort it out, if need be..... Note to refiojis, I *really am snowed under* so please do your very best.)

Arrange them alphabetically....

Achiyama - 1

Doitsuyama - 2

Jakusotsu - 3

Nekonishiki - 4

Pandaazuma - 5

Roll again - 6

I am thinking the least prestigious match is the 3rd vs 4th play-off, so we'll put that one first, followed by the Saucer Final, Bowl Final, Plate Final with the Cup Final being the top refioji position.

To keep things exciting, we'll roll for the first (as mentioned above), and continue...

So, who will refioji the 3rd/4th place play-off?

.

.

.

.

6

.

.

would you believe it?

Roll again....

6

Sheesh! Roll again...

2

Doitsuyama will refijoi the 3rd/4th play off between

Andonishiki (Mexico) vs Saruyama (England)

Next up, the Saucer final referee....

6

Oh for %^^*^TY%%&%&^%!s sake, give me a break ;-) Michelle is waiting to save dinner....

Roll again

4

Nekonishiki will look after the Saucer Final.

Re-assign the numbers...

Achiyama - 1,2

Jakusotsu - 3,4

Pandaazuma - 5,6

.

.

.

Next up is the Bowl refioji...

.

.

3

That is Jakusotsu.

Just two refiojis left....

Achiyama 1,2,3

Pandaazuma 4,5,6

Who will be selected for the Plate match?

Roll the die.....

4!

Pandaazuma will look after the Plate match.

That means Achiyama will be in charge of the Cup match.

I took part in a game the rules of which I didn't even know, so I can't complain, but in my very humble opinion it would have been much better if ALL the rules had been laid bare from the beginning.

AWARDS UPDATE

(thru Semi-Finals)

Golden Boot

With second-place Kotononami eliminated, this award race is pretty much over. Of course, anything is possible - but it would take 3rd place shimodahito going on a Germany-like scoring binge and leader Andonishiki getting shut out.

(5 = Saucer, 4 = Bowl, 3 = Plate, 1 = Cup)

Clean sweep for Pitinosato, mostly courtesy of having Germany as his ® team, while Furanohana was let down both by his lineup and his penalty takers.

Results summary for regulation time:

Draws: 21x 0-0, 10x 1-1, 6x 2-2

?-0: 22x 1-0, 40x 2-0, 7x 3-0

?-1: 12x 2-1, 1x 3-1

?-2: 1x 3-2

Most draws ended going to the penalty shootout; of the 0-0's, one turned into a 2-0 extra time victory, while two more ended at 1-1. Of the regulation 1-1's, two became 2-2's, and all regulation 2-2's also finished that way.[/font]

One shootout had to be regressed through three rounds, as Jejima and Maguroyama were tied exactly with their semifinal and quarterfinal penalties. Jejima eventually won it on his last 16 selections.

From 7 contenders we're down to 3 now. Kotononami and Achiyama have dropped out of the main competition, while Saruyama and chishafuwaku scored badly in winning and have dropped too far back. That leaves only Andonishiki and Kaiomitsuki in pursuit of leading shimodahito, who secured his participation in the 7th round and thus can secure the victory on his own. The chasing duo will have to hope shimodahito doesn't do too well on his final predictions.

Lowest-ranked active player Domichi has continued his unlikely run all the way to the Cup final, facing Kaiomitsuki.

Comment: I think Germany will win the cup. So, problems for me. On the other I have yet my team Netherlands. Might Krull be a hero again?

Refioji comments: Shimodahito has interestingly bet on a comeback win over 90 minutes for Germany. Chishafuwaku will be hoping for another Brazil capitulation as Netherlands are his ® team...but that may be unlikely and I doubt the Netherlands will be bothered to turn up for this game. But who knows??

comment: at least I want a Bronze medal.

personal opinion: the rules are too complicated.

hard to find refiojis.

hard to know if u won or not.

too many pages in this thread, hard to follow everything

just keep it bench style with 4-3-3-2-2. then on bench w beats draw and loss, draw beats loss.

if no result team who scored more goals in the points win. then total goals.

no r teams, no c teams.

if a few teams wont get picked, so what...

nevertheless - THANK U, it was good fun

.... from the finalist who wasnt allowed in....

Saruyama (England): Let's go for .... 3rd place? /sigh
Refioji Pregame: Saruyama must get over the shocking loss to Domichi's USA (just like 1950) and recover for the bronze medal game. andonishiki bemoans his fate, will he be able to concentrate?
