Hakkaku Oyakata to star in Swiss movie

Recommended Posts

Hakkaku Oyakata, Okinoumi and others participated in some scenes of a new Swiss movie being shot in Japan. The scenes were filmed at the heya and at the Kokugikan during Kotooushuu's danpatsushiki today. Hakkaku is said to have a pretty big speaking part as well. The movie is scheduled to show in Switzerland next year but no Japanese release date yet. It's about a former Swiss sumo champion who marries a Japanese woman and decides to check out her roots.

I'll never forget how Hakkaku (ex-Hokutoumi) thanked all the fans in London in 1991 (in English) after winning the tournament in the Royal Albert hall.

They were filming a scene with Okinoumi on Friday morning, in a corner of the courtyard, though it was clear they had to keep out of the way of the workmen putting up the 'scenery' for Koto-oshu's retirement the next day. I'd dropped in to pick up a form from the office and asked what was going on.

get a lot of these requests from overseas media types.

Some are OK and work out. Some not worthy of reply, like one last week from marketing agency looking for a couple of guys for an underwear promotion in Madrid!

Oossuunnaarasshii being trailed by film crew this week too. Interesting angle if it comes off - and if said angle is true.

More film requests in from the US - 2 channels - but they don't seem to realise there are no Americans of note in today's game.

Since then have been busy, in what passes for my spare time, with what looked like a sensible request from another south-east Asian country, but every time I told them how to do things they thought they had a better connection....

Have since been busy (in my spar time, which is strictly limited) with what seemed like a good
