d_golem 213 Posted September 15, 2015 Is it just me or he seems to not be very comfortable squatting? Need to do more "the split" training (dunno what is the Japanese term) I think.
Fukurou 534 Posted September 15, 2015 Why does he take his starting position so far back? Does he need that much room to get moving?

shumitto 418 Posted September 17, 2015 I liked what I've seen so far from Homarenishiki. The deashi is very improved, but he still moving too much without necessity. His attacks must become sharper, more focused, instead of being these thrusts and pushes against the foe, the air and anything before him. It is about taming this aggressivness and channeling it into a more effective way.

WAKATAKE 2,671 Posted September 18, 2015 Brody's off to a blasting start! I can see the competition getting a little tougher, but as long as he keeps trudging and keeps putting the work in, he'll do fine.
orandashoho 720 Posted September 18, 2015 I think it will be actually to his advantage if the opposition gets tougher.
Asashosakari 19,654 Posted September 18, 2015 It would have been rather odd if he hadn't started 3-0 against these opponents. Considering who's up next (Rikiyushi and likely the winner of Kotomanabe-Tsurugikaze), the wins should keep coming. And if the schedule works out in regular fashion he'll even get another creampuff opponent in bout 6 (Echizenyama/Kotouruga/Karakawa/Iwagami). Chances are he'll be facing Kiribayama again in the final round if he does make it to 6-0.

WAKATAKE 2,671 Posted September 21, 2015 Wow, 5-0. Since he wrestled his third match on day 6 and his fifth match on day 9, does anybody have his fourth match in between these?
Kasutera 258 Posted September 21, 2015 I just want him to get to sandanme already so he can have internet access and I can Facebook him again.

Only a 7-0 will get him to the Internet, eh Sandamme :-) 6-1 seems not enough from his current rank.

Asameshimae 220 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Karakawa is the rikishi I am watching the most closely in the lower ranks right now; I was hoping he had a chance in heck to pull off a win against 加奈乃山 but nope. At least I can be consoled that he way playing above his rank, and did his best. Anyway, I do wish Kananoyama, I mean Homarenishiki, the best. kuroimori 1,634 Posted September 24, 2015 Kiribayama won their first encounter by shitatehineri. Let's see what a healthy and a bit more experienced Brody can do in their second bout. A 7-0 would catapult him into the upper ranks of Sandanme for Kyushu basho. Gambare!
evilwaldo 11 Posted September 24, 2015 Interesting that he starts from a relatively distant point relative to the competition. That struck me watching his first five wins yesterday.
kuroimori 1,634 Posted September 24, 2015 Just saw the torikumi and was a bit surprised. Well, maybe that's an advantage for Brody? We'll know tomorrow.
Tobiarashi 1 Posted September 24, 2015 It's amazing, how much he improved compared to last basho. His movement looks sumo-ish, he knows, where to stand, how the ceremonial stuff works. By now he mostly overpowers his opponents, but if he keeps improving and learns some belt technic, he will reach the top-division some time in the future.
