Tenshinhan 1,605 Posted November 20, 2014 Sorry, but I don't understand this Kyokai thing and why it has 4 correct guesses now. Is this a joke? Could somebody explain this to me?

Could you explain us, why should someone explain what was discussed in this same thread just a few posts further up??? ;-)
Yaochoyama 1 Posted November 21, 2014 Has there ever been a GKA where only one contestant got a kk ? or one, where not a single player got one ?? How about a 5-10 yusho? Outright - no playoff. And a jun-yusho at 4-11. In a 7-way tie. All happened at Aki 2012.

Andonishiki 169 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Tenshinsan, the Nippon Sumo Kyokai (NSK) is the Japanese Sumo Organisation.... the mafia, the universe, the assembly of Gods.... however you call it.They organize the professional sumo tournaments in Japan, the hon-basho. Six of them, one every odd months for 15 days.Within the NSK, there's a torikumi panel..., a group of old, experieced & "wise?" men - former rikishi, I tend to believe - , that set up the torikumi (bout schedule - who fights against whom on which day). in German the expression torikumi 取組 might be translated into <Tor's kuh-mist> = "cow manure"That mist is what this game is all about, we simply guess which fights the panel boys will schedule for the next day.... this basho specificallly which opponent (aite), the western sekiwake Ichinojo (The Monster) will face.On a normal day, the NSK "the Kyokai" announces the scedule for the next day around 11:30am Japan time.as I live in Singapore at the moment, I enter my pick around 11am Japan time (=10am Singapore time), when I'm not that busy at work... now, if the Kyokai has chosen an opponent, that no gamer has projected, then no one gets a point. The Kyokai has outsmarted all GKA players. As this tends to happen more and more often, we have now decided to count, how many times this happens and therefore add "The KYOKAI"as a virtual player to the ranking. If the KYOKAI has a lot of points, it means, they often have chosen opponents, that were quite unlikely for the human players.... - of course if we ever find out, WHO actually decides the torikumi, then we'll attract him (her ?- no !) to participate in our game :)Then the KYOKAI could become human as well (or shimpanzee.... for that matter)so far it happened 4 times this basho, which in my limited experience, is astonishingly high.Personally I cannot sleep well with the fact, that the KYOKAI has more points than me, there's two more days to catch up with them.Gambaro zoooo ! hope that clarifies a few points - maybe some, that you didnt even ask :-D Edited November 21, 2014 by Andonishiki
Andonishiki 169 Posted November 21, 2014 thank you for all your insightful dips into GKA history, this is clearly the PREMIUM game of all sumogames: simply impossible to get a 14-1 or 15-0 score -- the crown of cybersumo day 14: Kisenosato
Andonishiki 169 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) After day 14: eleven picks today, 8 correct; second best day this basho, I believe. That lifts our correctness percentage to lofty 25.3% (37 out of 146)and we have a WINNER !Celebrations have to wait till tomorrow though, modesty & dignity reasons - this is SUMO, after all ! Jakusotsu (7-7)chishafuwaku (5-8-1)Gurowake (4-10)Andonishiki (4-10)Profomisakari (4-10)The Kyokai (4-10)Jejima (3-11)kuroimori (3-10-1)Tenshinhan (2-12)Ayagawa (2-10-2)XiaoTan (2-8-4)shimodahito (1-13)hoshihitomi12 (0-0-14)Ichinojo's aites: 1. Harumafuji, 2. Takarafuji, 3. Aoiyama, 4. Goeido, 5. Takekaze, 6. Kakuryu, 7. Ikioi, 8. Tochiozan, 9. Hakuho, 10. Aminishiki, 11. Toyohibiki, 12. Kotoshogiku, 13. Tochinoshin, 14. Kisenosato our man has faced the TOP 13 on the banzuke, all sanyaku, both M1s + 2s plus one M8.... so what's left in the torikuhmistis envelope for day 15 ?? Jakusotsu 5,914 Posted November 21, 2014 Hmm, very tricky. Scenario 1: Kisenosato - Tochinoshin Ichinojo - Takayasu But I'm not quite sure if the're really gonna skip the last Ozeki bout, so I'm going with Scenario 2: Kisenosato - Goeido Tochinoshin - Takayasu Day 15 - Terunofuji
