Fujisan 533 Posted November 5, 2014 (edited) no takers? wayne has assured me that he as finished another song not on the list of songs for the album but sine its a bit heavy in my favour anyway i will look to fit it in.... "Drag factor Dave" (Fawcett) ----inspiration? Do I really need to tell you? On a better note I think i may have found a singer.... i ran into an old friend today and the subject of songwriting came up,I told him I needed a singer..... "Oh I can sing" he said "Or if not I know someone who could help you" we meet on monday next week for further discussion....... His name is colin and he is a little ecccentric (Think a cross between your old science teacher and joey Ramonne) nice guy though and extremely talented,he does a one man show as "Abraham lincoln" and writes other stuff...He is a clear case of dont judge a book by its cover.... Pica-Pica 24 Posted November 6, 2014 I know some professional musicians on this side of the Atlantic, but I'm not sure how the "shopping around" works. Do you send out the sheet music with lyrics and let them look at it and decide if they're interested? The only dealings I've had with musicians and recording was when I filmed a fitness DVD, and the musician recorded the soundtrack some time later. I had already flown home, so I never met him, but he came highly recommended, so I was fine with that. AND I was very happy with the result. I can ask around...... No I dont send sheet music beause I wouldn't know how to do that..... I have very little knowledge in musical terms that is the point...... Despite the fact I cant sing or play any instrument or read music i can still write songs...... When I found someone to sing and play guitar on "Grace Amazing" All I had was lyrics and and a tune in my head.... My singer had to use the tune as I sang it to him to work out the guitar notes to go with it..... Thanks for the offer and do ask around but I will see what colin can do for me first and let you know...

Fujisan 533 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Thanks and yes it is fun....... I have been writing songs since I was at school-Wayne was writihg at school aswell.... In fact we colaberated on at least 3 songs even then.. sky blu-Still remember the tune but lyris are lost. What in tarnation?-still remember the tune but no lyrics whats in a kiss-i recently found the lyrics but the tune is lost in time..... My/our problem is i get tunes in my head and i think thats a great song but by the time i get near a tape recorder, the tune is gone.... I also start writing it but I dont finish it....... I have many songs where its just a chorus, some good tunes aswell..... For instance- =========================================================== A time for everything-(sharp) "Theres a time and place for everything that happens in this world, A time for everything you see, theres a time and place for everything that happens in this world.....so why cant you find time for me?" ==================================================================================== Thats it so far but i have put in the song list for the album,so I might have to finish it..... i really need a portable tape reorder beause many of the songs pop into my head when I am working and often surprise myself with the song writing, Where do they all come from? Especially sine I am tone deaf and cant play any instruments Like Bob Dylan once said "Any idiot can write a song" well i am proof of that.... Pica-Pica 24 Posted November 7, 2014 There are people who can't read music, but who, when they hear a tune, can play it exactly on their first go. You definitely need a collaborator.

One of the most popular musicians in history, Franz Schubert, could write the greatest songs. His playing skills were nowhere near the level of his compositional skills. Most of the stuff he wrote he coupldn't play well enough in public. At one point, in an evening that Beethoven had for him, Schubert was invited to play his stuff on the piano, and he refused in a panic! Beethoven eventually had to play his stuff for him. Many years ago, Conductor Fritz Kreisler was rehearsing the Chicago Symphony in Manuel De Falla's ballet, Three Cornered Hat. At some point during the rehearsal, De Falla enters the rehearsal, and Kreisler, elated at having the composer present, drags the poor guy onto the podium, and places a baton in his hand. De Falla simply froze. One of the greatest ballet composers of the 20th century, whose stuff was very modern and angular actually couldn't conduct his own work!! So, getting the right person to interpret your stuff is the hard part. Let them have all the knowledge. All you need is the creativity. And for what it's worth, neither Stevie Wonder, nor Ray Charles, nor George Shearing could ever read a note of music.

Well, he gets something.... He's got his 8th kid on the way, and the other seven range from 30-something to a 1 year old... He's gotta be 60+, his wife is young enough to be his own kid... He definitely gets into the rhythm. With a back-beat. And a down beat. Hopefully no pick--up notes.
