Thanks for that guys. So he did say the gyoji pointed to K-sato's side. If he did, it was the lamest "sashi" I remember seeing.

What's up with Shohozan? He was around the joi-jin for a while now and suddenly he's deteriorating...

Awesome bout by Takayasu, he seems more fired up in the recent bashos. Although Hakuho seemed to slip at the end which contributed a bit to the result.

Love the incredible disappearing gyoji in the Kakuryu-Ichinojo match (Holiday feeling...)

But what was wrong with that crowd? No zabutons for Takayasu? (Zabuton flying...)

I had to go back and check and yes, there are no zabuton thrown, at least at the point the video goes to. What's up? Is there some development I don't know about? People in western Japan get the "rules were made to be broken" thing more than Tokyo people in general do. I wouldn't think anything would stop them from throwing zabuton for such an upset. Anybody know something I don't?

edit: Right, was just reminded by a friend that Fukuoka is is the venue where the zabuton are attached to make double zabuton that can't be thrown more than a few feet. I had forgotten. Bummer.

Lest we forget.

Yes, I remembered that, but didn't remember where they'd instituted it at. Still, while telling anything from microphones is difficult, it sounded as if the crowd was tied, gagged, and sitting on their hands. Not a lot of reaction. Maybe they were in shock or something.

Is the translation for Kotoshogiku "Close Your Eyes At The Tachi-ai"?

I thought that Hibi had the better tachi-ai as he got underneath Giku, forcing him upright. For me, it was game over right there.

Kotoshougiku was well over the line before Toyohibiki moved, but Toyohibiki skillfully recovered. At least that's what I can see from here.

So sad to see Ikioi with only one win. :-O I hope he'll be able to turn things around in the last half.

To me the key to Toyo-Shogi was how their heads came together. Toyo hit with the top of the skull, and Shogi took it on the temple. I imagine he was stunned for a moment.

Harumafuji had a really close call, but managed to reverse an otherwise critical situation at the very last bit. Great bout!

Ichinojo impressed me once again. He loves to work his magic around the edges off the ring. When he gets pushed to the edge, he counters. He reminds me off Asashoryu in that aspect.

i think oshi-sumo rikishi (with thighs like an ox*) would take Toyohibiki's tachi-ai over Kotoshogiku's every day of the week.

the fact that Shogi was well over the line, before Hibs moved, just gave the "chance" to the STRONG legs of the latter to find the best angle in order to push upwards and backwards an opponent with less mass and an ox like stature and style of pushing.

Hibs found the way to beat Shogun for all eternity .... don't tell him ... or .... please tell him. I kind of like him (In jonokuchi...)

*of course Toyohibiki and Kotoshogiku are respectively the president and vice-president of this "club"

Is there anything more pointless in all of sumo than thrusting at Tochinowaka's throat? Everyone does it, but he keeps pushing forward regardless!

Wow, what an honour to appear in the end credits! It was a pleasure for me to help out with the footage.

However, I wonder why your Japanese calender is stuck at 初日. I thought it was 9日目. :-)

I'm so tired I can't see. fixed it.. It took me three hours to get it right.. And you deserve every ounce of the credit. In my book, there's nothing like someone stepping up to help..
