So Azumaryu is going down to Makushita? This is disappointing, he already was at 5-2 after seven days...

Amakaze fits better regarding his heya mates.

It won't be a problem since he's changing his name to Slippiotoshi

Some pictures from the press conferences with the three shin-Juryo.

Amakaze, formerly Kawanari, with his shisho Oguruma-oyakata (former Ozeki Kotokaze). Amakaze's birthday is July 7th which also heralds the start of Tanabata (Star Festival) celebrations in Japan; the 'Ama' in his new shikona is therefore taken from Amanogawa (Milky Way).

Abi, formerly Horikiri, with his shisho Shikoroyama-oyakata (former Sekiwake Terao). Apparently "Abi" is a nickname that the shisho has had since he was a child, so he has given this version of it to his latest sekitori.

Ishiura, still Ishiura, with his shisho Miyagino-oyakata (former Maegashira Chikubayama). He is the first shin-Juryo from Tottori prefecture since 1962 Nagoya, when Kotozakura (later the 53rd Yokozuna) made his debut. At 102kg (or 110kg, depending on the source), Ishiura will be the lightest current sekitori.

A river near his parents home has the same kanji as well. He selected the shikona himself, "The sky means looking upward, it's good."

The oyakata cautions him not to become one called an Ama-chan - one who takes things lightly, from ama(i)=sweet, naive

Shikoroyama-oyakata's nickname as an infant: Abi = ah, baby (another paper has: = a baby)

A- from Asura, a many handed heavenly fighting demon. The oyakata thinks his tsuppari and hataki are the closest to his own. He wants him to be strong as Asura, fighting fired up: the -bi means flame.

Ishiura - with his father as head coach of the Tottori Johoku high sumo club (producing Ichinojo) also a big name in (amateur) sumo, the name may sound good enough to keep it as shikona: He says he wants to thrive with his real name.

with Miyagino-oyakata - but he also is a private deshi of Hakuho

In that pic, Shikoroyama oyakata looks like a man who just found another winning horse.
