Ldom 5 Posted July 20, 2015 Hello everyone, My name is Laurent, I'm from France and I live in Toronto, Canada. I started watching and loving sumo during Asashoryu's days and then they stopped showing bashos on Eurosport and that was it. Now thanks to Youtube I'm rediscovering it and loving it as much. Really want to go back to Japan and go to a basho this time. Cheers, Laurent
kuroimori 1,634 Posted July 20, 2015 Bienvenue! Always nice to see someone from the Asashoryu era find his way to this forum. I guess we can welcome some more Canada based fans in the next couple of months when new recruit Homarenishiki hopefully rises up through the ranks towards sekitori-hood. Ldom 5 Posted July 21, 2015 Yes, Homarenishiki seems promising. Is he maybe a bit too tall?
orandashoho 720 Posted July 21, 2015 Can a person be too tall for sumo? If you can keep your center of gravity low, the extra reach and weight surely would give an advantage.

Ldom 5 Posted August 17, 2015 @treblemaker Sorry for the late reply. Is there a place to watch live sumo in Toronto? That'd be great.
ScreechingOwl 343 Posted August 25, 2015 Bienvenue Laurent. I don't live in Toronto, but give the time difference with Japan, the makuuchi division matches are going to start live at either 3 a.m. or 2 a.m. (depending on whether daylight saving time is in effect), I think it's going to be tough to find a place to watch live sumo other than in your home on the internet.
