Interesting timing when Miyagino himself is so close to retirement; one would think his retirement and the heya succession/move would be a more natural inflection point to move the heya. Space must have been really tight to force a move when Hakuho has already secured another premises (but will presumably need time for works) - unless that's not an acquisition for a heya at all.

So these must be the premises that belonged to the OG Azumazeki beya (run by Takamiyama). 

I think the ones in Katsushika (where Ushiomaru set the heya after the shisho's retirement) are now used by Futagoyama beya, IIRC.

A Sanspo article calls this a temporary location, maybe the plan is to move to Hakuho's new location later.

The relocation of Miyagino-beya is planned to be complete when they return from Nagoya. Hakuho/Magaki as successor will most likely switch kabu with Miyagino, who wants to stay in the NSK after turning 65 in August. The old Azumazeki-beya premises stayed empty since 2018, it is only a temporary residence till construction of the new heya at the Nihonbashi location is complete. Nikkan-gendai quotes heya related persons who tell that this is where the heya will move to, definitely not Asakusa, as Shukan Bunshun and others had reported. Tospo reports that it seems the final decision on the location has not been made yet.

NHK was advertising the new day 7 format the whole basho, Magaki does what Waka does on Abema, technique explanations. The lady is Airi, the daughter of ex-Wakashimazu and singer Takada Mitsue. Model, actress and famous sujo who runs a YT sumo channel that presents the rikishi of the (now Hanaregoma) heya. 

Since we had Airi today on NHK, here is the video she posted today of the rikishi leaving the old heya and moving to the new Hanaregoma-beya

Miyagino-beya started to move in February and completed the relocation this month

I think the one place you can be reasonably confident that doesn't happen is Japan, where even when they cook standards and tests, they make sure no actual harm happens.

One thing that intrigues me though is: in the past couple years we've had quite a number of heya move into buildings formerly used by previous heya. How does this work - are those former heya still owned by their last owners and it's a private rental matter between the oyakata and the owner? Was this the case with the old Azumazeki where the old stable was still owned by ex-Takamiyama (I assume their Katsushika premises were ex-Ushiomaru's property)?

Oshima-beya intends to move from Sumida ward to Katsushika ward next year before the July basho in Nagoya. Kokonoe- and Futagoyama-beya are located there. An update to this: After construction delays resulted in neither the originally mooted July nor a revised October moving date being met, Oshima-oyakata (ex-Kyokutenho) is now hopeful they'll be able to occupy the new premises by the end of the year. The three-storey building is designed in the style of a ryokan, and apparently the faithful interior work was a large part of what caused the delays. The heya is leasing the land the building stands on directly from the Katsushika ward authorities who, as has become increasingly common, hope to use the presence of a(nother) sumo stable to help revitalize the area.

A bit off topic but I wonder if most heya buildings use some kind of traditional or customary basic template for the building design -- 1st floor dohyo, 2nd floor common living area, 3rd floor oyakata etc., ending up with fairly cramped and ascetic living conditions for most of the rikishi. Seems like most heya are built that way, except Nishonoseki's experiment in the countryside and perhaps Nakamura who added a gym. I understand using several floors is necessary in a city environment where land is at a premium, but when already building a new multi story building wouldn't it be fairly easy to add another floor for example, creating more space for the heya? Sure it'd cost more but constructing a new building is already expensive anyway and having more space would surely be valuable for a heya?
