TENHO 59 Posted January 31, 2017 The guy who posted this works in Japan as a high school sumo coach, I believe and very close to Mongolian sumotories. It was posted on one of Mongolian sumo fan fb pages this morning. (It's 10 am in Mongolia)
Asameshimae 220 Posted January 31, 2017 I didn't want to believe it, but it's starting to leak in from other places too (a sumo interest group messaging circle in Japanese that I keep on my phone). I still think it's best to wait until there is confirmation in the news before we start lamenting his loss.
Asameshimae 220 Posted January 31, 2017 Yep... http://www.nikkansports.com/battle/sumo/news/1772502.html He certainly brought some colorful variety to sumo. He will be missed.
Pandaazuma 1,310 Posted January 31, 2017 A very sad day. He was such a unique and talented rikishi. I always looked forward to watching him, wondering if he would try another ketaguri. Way too young. Brave man. Tragic loss.
inhashi 2,363 Posted January 31, 2017 My heart crumbled upon reading the article. Very hard to accept that such an intelligent and vibrant young man is now gone.

Kintamayama 45,516 Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Sad news. Ex-Tokitenkuu (current Magaki Oyakata) the Mongolian has passed away. He has suffered from cancer (malignant lymphoma) for the last years. He was famous for his leg trips and all around nice guy. He felt bad yesterday afternoon and complained of breathing difficulties. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to the hospital. All heya members, family and even the former Tokitsukaze Oyakata arrived later . "I called out his name twice, and he opened his eyes. He was obviously having a hard time breathing," said current Tokitsukaze Oyakata. Tokitsukaze Oyakata, his boss: "He was my disciple when he entered sumo. He was an earnest and helpful rikishi. When he fell ill, he refused to take morphine. "If I take morphine I will lose to my pains," he said. Last September he was still doing hanamichi guard duties but on the final day he complained of fatigue. In October, he attended Tosayutaka's dampatsushiki (retirement ceremony). His physical condition started to deteriorate in the second half of October, complaining of back pains and discomfort in his legs and was confined to his home. I am left speechless at his sudden death. " The funeral will be held on February 7th. Edited January 31, 2017 by Kintamayama

The FB translation was horrible, and the Google translation was closer but still not right (so literal with names).
bettega 431 Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) Oh man. He was 2y younger than me I've been seen his bouts since mid-2011 (Just when I started watching sumo). Very sad news. Be well whanever you are, Tokitentu Edited January 31, 2017 by bettega
kuroimori 1,634 Posted January 31, 2017 (edited) That was really sad and shocking news to wake up to this morning. He was a special kind of rikishi, like @Pandaazuma already mentioned I was also always so curious if he would attempt one of his favorite "surprise ketaguri tachi-ai" and then calmly walk back to his spot with that cool and stoic "did-anything-happen?" face, while his leg-trip victims were still wondering what hit them. May he rest in peace. Edited January 31, 2017 by kuroimori

WAKATAKE 2,671 Posted January 31, 2017 I literally want to cry. He was such a great wrestler to watch, always kept things exciting. Hearing that he had lymphoma was sad to hear, and seeing him refuse to give up at first was very admirable. Tragic. RIP
Naganoyama 5,945 Posted January 31, 2017 I remember the late great Taiho (at a soken perhaps?) saying that he should do proper sumo and not bother with all those stupid leg trips. I'm glad that he never took that advice as he was always exciting to watch and offered something different.
