Kintamayama 45,501 Posted August 1, 2017 A bit of a dilemma here-part of the preparations will be at the Natsu Jungyo, so should I post there or open a special thread as usual? I opt for as usual, as many have no interest in the jungyo and may thus miss my many pearls of wisdom. Hokutofuji faced Takayasu at the jungyo and went to bed totally exhausted. "I was called out on the first day for some sanban (head to head) keiko by the Ozeki. The atmosphere is different. I got tired just from the atmosphere and lost my breath, " he explained. 9 bouts in all and he was reeling, managing to only win the last one by oshidashi. "He saw that I was out of breath so it looked like he was letting up.." said Hokutofuji. He did beat Takayasu on day 1 of Nagoya. "I'm not thinking of that.." he summed. "No, I'm not KaioU.." 3

So Takayasu is using the Hakuho approach of `so you beat me during the last basho and this is what you get now'. Edited August 1, 2017 by Sakura
Kintamayama 45,501 Posted August 31, 2017 (edited) So I went with the jungyo option. Shoot me.. Jungyo over, back to here. Mitakeumi- Went to Kasugano where the boys are, facing Tochiouzan and Aoiyama, focusing on his tachiai. Was seen being pushed back a lot, and the 3-9 record says maybe his tachiai isn't fully baked yet. "If I manage to do a solid tachiai the results will follow. I will be polishing that," he said, not in Polish. Tochiouzan, off a 12 win basho that landed him in sanyaku after 6 bashos, showed some serious throat thrusting. "I'll improve some more with some more serious training " said the serious and recently married Tochiouzan, expecting his first -born in September. He trained at home today, 30 - odd bouts, participated in all of them, showing some powerful hits and excellent speedy attacks. "I can only look forward to this . It's not that I lack self confidence or anything. I am putting the finishing touches with a good feeling," he said. 1

Aoiyama is fortunately ranked high enough that he can 0-0-15 and still stay in makuuchi. Sadanoumi will have to enter at some point to avoid dropping to juryo. Anyone have details on their injuries? dada78641 884 Posted September 9, 2017 (edited) Slightly higher quality version of that video (ripped, not recorded from TV): Including him revealing that he uses a training method from a manga! edit: nevermind, it's actually lower quality because the rip is SD...and the above video is HD.
