itchyknee 60 Posted July 9, 2018 In Tamawashi v. Hakuho I saw the not unusual Hakuko face slap. Would a disqualification occur if the about to be slapped 'serendipitously' opened their mouth and angeled their face such that the slapping hand went into their mouth and was 'accidentally' bitten in 'surprise'?

Bugman 384 Posted July 10, 2018 (edited) On Kinta's day 2, at 8:13 in the video, the camera pans to an amazing sight of beautiful architecture, and the caption is 'meanwhile, outside my humble castle' I enjoy those little moments where they show something outside the dojo, related to Japan in general, it really adds to the atmosphere. Edit* This is the first time i've watched Sumo properly for about 2 years, and after seeing these first three days i have to say that Endou seems so much stronger than before, there was a lot of hope for him back then and it seems to have born fruit. Yoshikaze doesn't seem to have the same fire in his belly, or the same nonchalant attitude he once had, and there's lots of new names for me to learn. I feel like the only thing that hasn't changed is Hakuho, the white bird is as ferocious as ever. (admittedly i probably shouldn't try to deduce too much form just three days ) Edited July 10, 2018 by Bugman

Bugman 384 Posted July 12, 2018 (edited) Spoiler Aminishiki is amazing. To (badly) paraphrase the Sopranos, 'when i was young he was old, now i'm old he's still old, and still winning. Kotoekou i had never seen before prior to this tournament, his strong determination in each bout puts me in mind of Kitataiki. RabidJohn 1,787 Posted July 13, 2018 YouTube has been poking NattoSumo's channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzZ8v5JF3IyxLWOCGKpcP0g) at me for a while now, and seeing as how he/she's beat Moti to it two days on the trot I've checked it out. Same NHK-G footage though not quite as sharp as Moti's can be and it lacks his quirky commentary, but it does give a lot of info - so much I have to pause it if I want to take it all in. Worth a look, and not just out of desperation. I'm still watching Moti's as well, though.

Eikokurai 3,437 Posted July 13, 2018 I prefer Kintamayama’s videos for their simplicity. The info in the other one is great, but I don’t usually need it personally and the volume of graphics can be a bit much on the eye.
