It is very tedious now to insert pics and links. Pics (and videos) are no longer embedded by pasting their link and link URLs are no longer converted to links - one has to explicitly paste them into the "Link" and "Insert other media" windows. I have no idea how to embed videos now - there is no option for that.

The only thing different I notice so far is the "quote selection" button now instead of "quote this" and the default search option within a thread no longer being "This topic", but "Everywhere".

MultiQuote and Autosave don't work for quite a while already.

I want to give thanks for doing the update. For me it finally fixed the 'Inactive' -status issue and I have been able to give thanks&likes to posts which I have enjoyed and/or found interesting.

This isn't strictly forum engine feedback, but I had my previous post in the old feedback thread and that's closed now, so this is the next-best place:

I got annoyed enough to finally do something about it tonight, and my first plan of action was to try a local stylesheet to see if that fixes anything. It didn't really (minor improvement, but not enough to be worth it), but in the course of that I ended up looking for information on the forum engine's default font Roboto, and 'lo and behold. The Chromium bug report linked from that page isn't overly informative about why this suddenly started happening in mid-May, but both pages allowed me to track down and solve the issue: Apparently Dell notebooks like mine come with a thin version of the Roboto font pre-installed (for some Dell support program, I guess), and Chrome was erroneously calling on that alternative font file rather than the proper Roboto font. Deinstalled the font as advised, and one Chrome restart later everything's back to how it should be.

I think I've now encountered all possibilities and flaws for embedding of links, pics and videos:

Embedding in a new post won't work, except if you paste the link from the browser address line, so you need to open the page in the browser and can't just use a copied link - in the first post of a thread  also this won't work.

If you edit the post, embedding works again, except in the 1st post.

For embedding of links and images, the editor has the "Link" and "Insert other media" windows - to insert a video in the 1st post of a thread, you have to post it in a 2nd post, cut the embedded video and paste it into the 1st post.

or you can copy/paste it from another page with the same iframe code, to have it the usual size with the div class

The update has made using the forum more tedious without a noticeable improvement.

Search has become more tedious as well -  the defaults were like I need it and now I need to change them all the time:

"any word" contained in the search phrase is the default now, it was "all words" before the update

Also inside a topic or subforum, the default is to search in the whole forum, it was inside the topic/subforum so far

 

The option in a personal profile to change the defaults for the individual need would be helpful

not nearly - the embedding routines never stop to surprise. The embedding of forum contents is a whole new world.

You can use the embedding function for a whole thread, e.g. this

to find out if anywhere in this thread a picture was posted, that was uploaded to the forum

This pic is on page 2 - the embedding routine searches the whole thread.

I guess there still is somewhere in this embedding universe the condition to create a black hole in a very large thread - and thus Harumafuji scandal part 1 collapsed into nothing

 

Embedding just one post skips the pic, the text parts get condensed and other embedded parts are ignored

I assume Exil did some tweaking because positioning at the first unread post after loading a plethora of pics suddenly works again.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but how are actual tables done in the forum these days? I wanted to update some posts of mine that lay dormant since 2015, but fiddling with the Thing They Called Editor left me clueless after about 10 seconds as I ran out of actual editing options.

Lists/tables that have been created before the 4.0 apocalypse seem to be lost for reusage, at least within the context of my limited skillset.

Help?
