Takakeisho in 2019 - the Young 'un

Takakeisho began his Makunouchi career in January 2017.  He began his sanyaku career in January 2018.  He won his first ever yusho in November 2018.

He remains the youngest rikishi currently in Makunouchi  - for now (Takagenji ranked near the top of Juryo is younger.)

How will this youngster (is 22 considered young?) do in 2019?

I will still stick to an ozeki promotion prediction, although I think he'll be O2W on this one. He'll drop to hiramaku once but come roaring back. 12 wins consecutive

Hakuho's vote is it looks like ozeki rank will come in two more basho (pictured here congratulating

Tweet: Nobody in the NSK expresses an opinion about Hakuho, which means he isn't much liked.

Just like Ghosn the dictator, he will be removed.

Well enough to stay in sanyaku the whole year and be an ozeki starting in 2020. Yes, for this, 22 is considered young.

I think he'll get close to becoming Ozeki once or twice without finishing a successful run by January 2020.

I think he'll be an Ozeki after March, and I wouldn't then be surprised if, given he stays healthy, he is a Yokozuna by the end of the year. I think he'll be the only multiple yusho winner for the year, but I'm not sure if they will be consecutive. But his trajectory mirrors the greats so...

I think he will do well,

but it won't be (just) enough to become Ozeki.

70% of us think that Takakeisho will spend the whole year in the sanyaku ranks.

The median for his longest winning streak is 10.5 wins - but the mode is 12 wins. (This basho perhaps?)

Three-quarters of us think that he will begin next year as an Ozeki - the other quarter suggesting that he will be a Sekiwake.

Overall, it looks like we are predicting either a good year, or a very good year for this young rikishi!

Takakeisho's 2019 went like this....

Jan - S1E (11-4 Jun-Yusho)
Mar - S1E (10-5)
May - O2E (3-4-8)
Jul - O2E (0-0-15)
Sep - S1W (12-3 Jun-Yusho via play-off)
Nov - O2E (9-6)

So, all six bashos ranked in the sanyaku, as predicted by 70% of us, namely MumboJumbo, Ginkitsune, Shinrei, Kyokufuji, Morty, wys, Tenshinhan, Shatsume, Jejima, I am the Yokozuna, Benihana, Oshirokita, Pitinosato and Sherlockiama.

Takakeisho's longest win-streak (which he achieved on four occasions, including twice in September) was five. Ginkitsune came closest with six.

The 'silver fox' was also one of the 80% who correctly predicted that Takakeisho would be ranked at Ozeki for January 2020.  

So the yusho clearly goes to @Ginkitsune .
