@Akinomaki Many thanks for sharing the results of this tournament, I've only been able to find bits and bobs so far. The amasumo site even has full names in their tournament results, which is always helpful.

The Grade 4 competition looks like a free-for-all at the moment, with semi-finalist Shigemura Konosuke being the only one on the list to have impressed at the Wanpaku Tournament this summer (he's actually the Wanpaku Yokozuna this year), though it is nice to see Tamiya Aiki getting his first ever outstanding result in a major tournament. The winner Toyoda Rinnosuke might be younger brother to Toyoda Rintaro, who is also from Tokunoshima Island in Kagoshima (Rintaro is currently in his second year at high school).

Kuraoka Yuta winning the Grade 5 competition looks interesting, as he also won this tournament last year. However, both of the Wanpaku Yokozunas in this year group, Kodama Hayato and Yamashita Masakiyo, seem to have been unable to make it past the quarter-finals. In Kodama Hayato's case, even though he has trained with Maro Kosho, his Mitaka club-mate, leading up to this tournament, in reality he has for some reason not participated in many training sessions over the past few months. I'm sure that Kodama's arm strength is still unmatched in his year group, but without sufficient practise in the ring, he will unfortunately find it harder and harder to fufill his incredible potential, which is sad to see. Semi-finalists Okuda Soma and Furukawa Yuto both achieved the exact same result as during the Wanpaku Tournament back in late July.

The Grade 6 final is a repeat of the Wanpaku final this year, but this time, it was Hayashi Rei who came up on top and Takei Ginji who had to settle for second place. Chris Gould mentioned in one of his YouTube videos that Hayashi Rei (and his twin brother Hayashi Ryu) have both been inspired by Mitakeumi's Yusho back in July this year, and that's why their recent results have greatly improved. Mitakeumi hails from the same sumo club as the Hayashi twins (Kiso Sumo Club in Nagano). Semi-finalist Shino Soma was a Wanpaku semi-finalist from 2017, and was one of the standout competitors that year. His build is similar to that of Sato Takanobu (aka Takakeisho) back in his Wanpaku days, but with more skill and less power.

As for the kids at my club, Tachikawa Renseikan Sumo Dojo? Regrettably they've not been able to make it past the Kanto qualifiers this year, but hopefully they can get a better showing in 2019.
