I somehow wouldn't be surprised if he's still active this time next year, at the rate he's going. Yeah, I for one predicted intai by now, following his poor performance a couple of basho ago. I thought he’d get one last pay cheque and call it a day, but he’s still there and still performing more than respectably.

I was just stressing he may have a softer heart to be in combat sport. Takagenji needed a henka but he gets his KK and entry into Makuuchi. He's a new rikishi in this basho. Where did the real Takagenji go?

The more you hang around, the more bonus you get. It gives a 40 year old man a good motivation to keep hanging around. Still, Ami has done well in this basho given his last few basho performances. But in these three matches, he seems to me in better physical health. Always weak, but less puffy, blemish, and without strength. With a new pride, too. For the first time since 2017, it's not paintful to see him fight. Perhaps, for Nagoya, it will be nice to see him fight again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCPvTeNMzLo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2ZmK9co62Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnzSuW9vXYo Courage Terunofuji ! difficult day. Has to work his fighting spirit to regain the tiger eye. day 8 :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSOOA7-NxTQ I know, of course, it's an impossible task to come back. day 10 & 11 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvET183dR-c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmjtOqBp9gA two easy wins by yorikiri for 5-1. Would he be jaded ? perhaps makushita if 7-1 Edited May 22, 2019 by Umizoi

It will only keep him going until he gets KK or can't continue anymore. But, I understand, at that age and in this sport, that (stupidity) is almost expected. At least, he's smarter than Ikioi. I haven't seen any of it as QQ was showing baseball and is now only broadcasting the sound of the sumo. I think it's a Japanese listening test or something. Update: Images have appeared for the final three bouts. Whoopee. Edited May 19, 2019 by Eikokurai

I know they all do it and it's part of sport, but he's basically just admitted to purposely exploiting an opponent's injury. Honest, but not very nice. That aside, go Tamawashi! Tochinoshin owes him one.

Rainoyama 1,157 Posted May 19, 2019 Tamawashi with his classic tachi ai mind games... A lot of things I disliked today but the race is on so it was still a fun day overall for me ! That was a good first week despite so many kyujo, let's see what the second week has in store for us ! sumo is great
robnplunder 976 Posted May 19, 2019 Tochi's back on the yusho train thanks to Tamawashi's win. Kak lost balance at the start and never recovered from Tamawashi's onslaught. Let those futons fly!
