I wonder if this is what's giving Tochinoshin a problem? I don't mean to be intrusive to the guy's medical issues, but I've noticed he's been wearing large band-aids on his keister the last four or five bashos, and I'd wondered if he might be having trouble with shingles. This is just idle curiosity/concern, so I'm not asking anyone to disclose something that's too private to share. Of course, it's hard to hide much if you're a professional sumo wrestler... Tiger Tanaka 222 Posted September 14, 2019 I love Daieisho's style of sumo. Very under the radar, underappreciated rikishi. While he has likely maxed out at upper maegashira (maybe a short one-off K/S debut), on his best day he can be pesky for even the top rikishi and pull upsets like today. Well done Daieisho!

Akinomaki 40,098 Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) A gyoji can't call a hansoku - and if he calls a shinitai like Mitsunosuke for Seiro-Kizakiumi, he runs a high risk of getting overturned by the shimpan. But if he points to the one who was airborne, he runs the same high risk of getting a sashi-chigae on his record. The gyoji also has to feel the mood of the shimpan that day. In this case, Kizakiumi as the attacker had a low risk of getting pronounce dead body, so the gyoji should have just looked at the feet, as is the golden rule. Benihana 1,916 Posted September 14, 2019 I see Ishiura is enhoing his style of sumo and i see it's good. He isn't quite the technician like Enho, but his + of muscles comes in handy. We NEED both in a playoff.
Rainoyama 1,157 Posted September 14, 2019 No monoii for the Meisei-Kagayaki bout ? Really ? Looking at the replay I tend to agree with the call but it was so close they should have discussed it.
Akinomaki 40,098 Posted September 14, 2019 Abema MC Waka today picked Endo as his yusho prediction - IIRC on day 1 he had picked Hakuho

Benihana 1,916 Posted September 14, 2019 Tochinoshin should drop out immediately. No way for him going KK with the remaining high rankers still to come.

Who'd thought that Okinoumi would be in the driver seat for yusho almost a half way into this basho. Personally, I want Mitakeumi to get his 2nd basho, and set up for his Ozeki run. Rocks 1,807 Posted September 14, 2019 Another crazy day on the dohyo. Kakuryu is definitely hurt but awesome win for Tomokaze. Kakuryu out for sure. Tough loss for Endo. A joke of a henka from Chiyotairyu to get a meaningless win. He's well on the way to the MK station. Still expect Takakeisho to get 10. Mitakeumi and Goiedo looking very good. Great win for Okinoumi but you can see the nerves are starting to act up. I'd love to see him yusho to watch Jason explode on camera but I don't see it. Asanoyama looking very solid. Tochinoshin is done unfortunately. He isn't getting 8 this basho and extremely unlikely to get 10 in November. I'm sure he'll hang on for a while though.
