He's actually very talented and I usually root for him, but I do have a habit of siding with the bad guy. It's not just that he henkas, but that he snarls at opponents who dare to henka him. He also likes to slap but gives the dirtiest looks to people who slap him back. He's a total hypocrite. 3
Eikokurai 3,437 Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Kiribayama's Makuuchi debut is the best since Ichinojo's 13-2 in Sept 2014. First man to reach 11+ wins in his debut since then. 24 wins (and possibly 25) between the two bottom-ranked rikishi. Is that some sort of record? Asashosakari 19,331 Posted January 26, 2020 I actually don't know/remember if that was determined to be the record back then; it was more of a heads-up to those inclined to check that the trivia legwork was probably already done back then and can be found in that basho thread. Asashosakari 19,331 Posted January 26, 2020 (edited) Kotoeko puzzles me; I could swear that his sumo looks entirely the same no matter if he's winning or losing big in a basho. Edited January 26, 2020 by Asashosakari

My cursory investigation suggests it is. I narrowed the search to M16-22 with 11-15 wins and grouped by basho. There were few enough that I could check manually to see which had big wins by the two bottom-rankers (since the results also include M16s etc who weren't the lowest at the time). http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Query.aspx?show_form=0&group_by=basho&having=2&form1_rank=M16-M22&form1_wins=11-15&form1_m=on&group_expand=on

Benihana 1,929 Posted January 26, 2020 Disappointing end for Enho. Should've been a matta. But he got his KK, which is nice.

I don't care if both had their hands down. Two guys standing up and then sheepishly going in for a hug is no tachiai for me. Technically you're of course correct, as always. Tigerboy1966 1,448 Posted January 26, 2020 Two consecutive 10-5s for Kagayaki. And he takes a 2-1 lead over his old buddy.

It was neither matta nor a clean tachi-ai - it was a very bad and late tachi-ai by Enho and that immediately lost him the bout Edited January 26, 2020 by Akinomaki

My family seems to want me to continue. Maybe if I try one last time.. I need some time to calm down. At the moment I'm feeling relieved. I'll have to think this through.. I planned on doing better sumo today and winning, as it might have been my last bout, but it didn't happen. I got pushed out easily. I really wanted to do my kind of sumo and not sumo I may regret.." Akinomaki 40,515 Posted January 26, 2020 This threatened to be the most boring finish for a basho - but Shodai remembered the new Shodai of earlier in the basho
