Games Talk Haru 2020

Recommended Posts

I will project the Oracle results as usual for the Yoks and Ozeki. I had space for two more so I have also included ScreechingOwl and Chisha this time. No MechaJejima anymore as the real Jejima is now at Ozeki, clearly on a quest to expose the flaws of Oracle. This time he has picked 8W-7W alternately down the entire order. Owl sadly is screwed already as it looks like he forgot to enter a pick for Shimanoumi.

Anyway...

Leader: Pandaazuma
Norizo, Choshu-Yuki -1
Gansekiiwa -3
Jejima -8
Chishafuwaku -12
ScreechingOwl -13

Early days...

I wondered how on earth I had made it to Ozeki, and so checked my results. Yusho in September - 0-0-15 in November - Yusho in January. I suppose that is worthy of being promoted to Ozeki? By I would have said that the 0-0-15 in the middle of the yusho sandwich might have counted severely against me.

I can't expect to win the yusho every time with my 'tactics' - but if I rank regularly (not always, but more often than not) in the top quartile using such a picking technique, maybe the game is a bit flawed?

Perhaps the game will prove me wrong this basho!

i do not know how to cross-quote, but this is the big equalizer for sumogames, as most of the deadlines are before the kyuso announcements are made on the nsk-site

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. If this holds true in the future and isn't just some special accommodation for this very odd basho then surprise fusen matches are going to cease to be much of a help to anyone.

In Chain  Gang I picked Asanoyama for day 5, but I was kicked out saying I picked Nishikigi.
Of course I never did this.

Here is your pick for Day 5:

Bout 32.  Asanoyama S1E (4-0)

You may change your pick until 12 March, 2020 02:00 PM JST.

Something went wrong in Chain with the Asanoyama pick. I've picked him, but it says i had Mitakeumi. Still won, but other people not that lucky.

@Mmikasazuma @RPedro44  Asnaoyama won by fusen. There are no fusen wins in Chain.

KYUJO - When your default pick goes Kyujo, your second default pick kicks in.. IMPORTANT!! You cannot win OR lose by fusen. If your picked rikishi is involved in a fusen match, the default kicks in automatically. This is so no player will have any advantage due to time zone differences, as we had happen in the past. In the highly unlikely event that your default is also involved in the fusen match, you're toast..The best thing to do is keep an eye out for possible kyujos, and stay away from that rikishi!!

Sorry, lads...my heart is really not in this basho. I am having real trouble finding any enthusiasm. Without the fans, sumo is not sumo. I will still enter the games, but sadly, the panda is without a soul for this tournament. :(

My gambit of picking against four rikishi with a combined record of 1-19 didn't do that spectacularly either.

Oracle Day 7:

Leader: Pandaazuma
Norizo -2
Choshu-Yuki -4
Chishafuwaku -10
Gansekiiwa -12
ScreechingOwl -14
Jejima -15

No idea why I am doing well in this but so awful in everything else. I guess it is just because I spectacularly managed to pick all the injured lads as my main picks in the other games.

Oracle Day 9:

Leader: Pandaazuma
Norizo, Choshu-Yuki -3
Gansekiiwa -6
Jejima -19
Chishafuwaku -20
ScreechingOwl -21

Nice comeback from Gansekiiwa...let's see if he can keep that going. The bottom three are out of it.

My games scores are terrible. We're going in lockdown with the Corona measures, and I lost all my hotspots. Today is a fluke. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go online at all tomorrow.

I'm just hoping to hold out for a KK in Oracle.

Boy the placement, or not, of Takakeisho last night was critical on the H2Hs. Kind of surprised to see some place him so high. I would have benched him if Aoiyama was not facing someone he never faced before. Shocked to see him as @RaeucherLax pick for Chain. But at least he got sole Jun-Yusho. Congrats!!!!! (Clappingwildly...)(Clappingwildly...)(Clappingwildly...)
