GTB Natsu 2020- 106 entries and results!

Recommended Posts

I don't feel confident about anything below M4e:

Hakuho (Ye 13-2 Y)        Y    Kakuryu (Yw 12-3)
Takakeisho (Oe 7-8)       O    Asanoyama (Se 11-4)
Shodai (Sw 8-7)           S    Mitakeumi (M3w 10-5)
Daieisho (M1e 8-7)        K    Okinoumi (M2e 8-7)

Endo (Kw 7-8)             M1   Takanosho (M9e 12-3)
Yutakayama (M3e 8-7)      M2   Onosho (M5w 9-6)
Takarafuji (M7e 9-6)      M3   Kiribayama (M8w 9-6)
Kagayaki (M6w 8-7)        M4   Hokutofuji (Ke 4-11)
Abi (M4w 7-8)             M5   Enho (M4e 6-9)
Aoiyama (M13w 11-4)       M6   Ryuden (M5e 6-9)
Terutsuyoshi (M11w 9-6)   M7   Ishiura (M12e 9-6)
Tokushoryu (M2w 4-11)     M8   Chiyotairyu (M11e 8-7)
Tamawashi (M7w 6-9)       M9   Ikioi (M12w 8-7)
Myogiryu (M6e 4-11)       M10  Tochinoshin (M9w 6-9)
Kaisei (M14e 8-7)         M11  Sadanoumi (M10e 6-9)
Shimanoumi (M16w 9-6)     M12  Shohozan (M8e 4-11)
Kotoshogiku (M13e 7-8)    M13  Kotonowaka (M18e 9-6)
Takayasu (M1w 0-5-10)     M14  Kotoshoho (J6e 12-3 Y)
Wakatakakage (J2w 10-5)   M15  Chiyomaru (M15w 7-6-2)
Kotoeko (J5e 11-4)        M16  Terunofuji (J3e 10-5)
Nishikigi (M14w 6-9)      M17  Kotoyuki (J1e 8-7)

No less than four switches from my initial draft for the GTB entry, wonder how many I'll come to regret: Enho/Aoiyama, Tochinoshin/Kaisei, Sadanoumi/Shimanoumi and Nishikigi/Kotoyuki. (Probably all of them if I have generally underestimated how far they're going to drop MKs here...)

With Kotoshoho so high on your attempt ,  Kotoeko J5e (11-4) could stay in Juryo? ;-)

You promote Tobizaru and not Terunofuji?

Whoops.

I write my juryo promo's seperately, I must have left Terunofuji off the list.

I got it right as far down as Takarafuji. Then I stopped checking.

That might be my worst placing in like two years.  Ouch.  Many, many XW <-> X+1 E errors, in addition to bigger ones.  Got most of the big moves wrong enough to disrupt large chunks of the banzuke, etc.

53 for moi. Rubbish, but it may even net a kachi-koshi as at first glance it looks like the banzuke-making lads got through several bottles of shochu before they got to the jo'i again. :((

48 here. I'd love to blame the 12 points lost by West/East switches (Yutakayama/Takanosho, Tokushoryu/Ishiura, Wakatakakage/Kotoshoho), but it's not like those account for the majority of the damage.

Edit: Reonito at Tachiai has 57 if his published guess is what he sent in and I counted correctly. If that's not the winner's score it might not be far off.

Beginners bad luck here. I picked Asanoyama as the East Ozeki. Not the best way to start your GTB career.

I'm pretty sure I didn't enter.  The last draft I made, from where I would have made my entry if I somehow made it before deciding I was purposely not entering because of the Chiyomaru situation, would have scored 53 as follows:

I got a fortunate 54. Just lucky again at hitting some bulleyes in messy sections.

Hi. I entered this game for the last basho as Kotomaru, and sure enough my name is there under the list of entries. I don't see myself anywhere else though - on the overall scoreboard, or basho scoreboard or whatever, despite new players apparently being added already. Just wondering if I have slipped through the cracks or am too impatient to see the extent of my failure, and it will update in time. Cheers

I look forward to seeing how many players got Nishikigi right. (Onthebanzuke...) I sure didn't, I made quite a mess of the lower half. Have to be satisfied with kachi-koshi, I have done worse. (Thinkingindepth...)

I found your name in the standings though unfortunately you‘ll have to scroll a little...

LOL. Hey, it wasn't the easiest one for a newbie. How you guys got anything right below M4 is deeply mysterious to me at this point...

Completely agree re Nishikigi. Seems I might have to start factoring in a “Nishikigi bonus” much like the Shodai bonus of old where he always seemed to stay in the joi no matter how many MKs he racked up
