Gotta put in a shout out to Terem, Russian crossover group.  Unfortunately, Mikhail Dzudze, "the Paul McCartney of the double bass balalaika" has retired from the group.

And by the way, if someone could tell me how to insert the youtube videos as in the above posts, I'd appreciate it.

In most browsers, they are embedded automatically. In the one I mainly use, at first they are not. I have to edit my post, go to the end of a link and press return: then the video mostly gets embedded, except in the first post of a thread. For that I have to use a different post/browser where it embeds, cut and paste.

Ok this is not really the kind of music displayed here so far and I apologize for being "off topic" in an "off topic" thread but this voice .... My God this voice... She's definitely not known enough in my opinion, hence this post.

Today the YouTube algorithms sent me towards Hirosaki, Aomori! Today was a good day.

Just seeing this now.

Yes, as a former Aomori resident, with ties to Hirosaki, I'm proud of these guys!
I wish I'd know about them while I was there. Didn't discover them until I returned to Canada.

Only just found this thread. So much to watch and listen to!

Thank you @Kotoroiwa for exposing me to Hirosaki, Aomori!

I've posted this elsewhere on the forum previously, but just in case you missed it:

Everything on The Hu's YT channel is well worth a listen.

Thanks to everyone offering links. Some of those have already been familiar to me, but most not. Some music has certainly not been anything I would've found on my own or even by chance. Hopefully others feel to have also been exposed to new music, too. :-)

Now, let's see… If I were given a chance to bring with me onto a desert island music from just one artist or band, it would be CMX. Much of their allure is derived from the lyrics written by their vocalist / bassist A. W. Yrjänä. They are complex, even to the point of an end in itself. No wonder they divide opinions.

Enough talking.

Shouldn't the lyrics on the chorus be "All the leaves are brown?"

I don't believe this has been posted elsewhere on the forum (apologies if it has) and it may seem off-topic, but keep watching...

PYX - LAX from Greece. It's old and they splitted quite a long time ago but they had big success.

Akinoos Ioannidis from Cyprus - Greece. 2 versions of the same song. The original from the album and one more recent "official clip video".

Pyx-Lax: I thought I recognized that name.  A quick search showed me that they had done a record with Sting.  Good stuff!
