How long until he launches his chain of 24-hour Mahjong and Massage parlours?

Good point.  He probably won't be getting an Oto-san phone plan commercial, so he's going to have to have a backup plan.  And they always say, "Find work that feeds your passion" or something.

One step at a time. He will have his guest appearance on Takatoriki's channel first.

I have a feeling he couldn’t care less. He sent in his papers really quickly after the story broke as if he wanted out right there and then. I’m pretty sure if he would have waited he would have been given a slap on the wrist and could have continued. I also remember him not being present at the celebrations when Shoudai got promoted to Ozeki and that itself was intriguing. I think there is much more to this episode.

I wouldn't exactly call the Kyokai leadership dynamic or bold, and the directness of the language in the translation was surprising. I wonder how long he's really been in trouble with the Kyokai.

Pretty bleak history. Involved in the baseball gambling scandal back in 2008, then some of his guys were involved in the yaocho scandal of 2011. He was punished in both cases and served eight years of no promotions as a combined punishment after being dropped from shunin to toshiyori.

It’s very sad to see someone so jaded that they can’t take care of such a prestigious heya properly.

Not only don't we have a rim-shot emoji, but we're completely lacking in any kind of groan emojis.  MODS!

To which Mrs. Churaumi would say, "Sometimes I have to stab a cheating husband sometimes, after all..."

I told Mrs. Churaumi I made this joke, and she laughed a little too hard and agreed with it a little too fast. I sleep with one eye open now.

I get the feeling that he was done with sumo a long time ago and was just going through the motions, almost trying to get kicked out so he wouldn't have to live a lie anymore. Well, he finally got his wish in that case.

Worth adding on that he was forced to retire as an active wrestler in 2007 when Futatsuryu was kicked out for the hazing incident, in order to take over the heya. To get hit with those two punishments so soon must indeed be demoralising as heck.
