Presently working for Miyagino as coach and personal manager and now Ryuo opened Chanko Dining Ryu at Kinshi-cho station in Sumida ward, one stop away from the kokugikan. With (for over 10 years in the heya) chanko-cho Kiryu, who has just retired. Grand opening is on Sep. 1st.

Ryuho silently announced on his personal instagram:

He is closing Chanko Dining Ryu and moving back to Mongolia. From the caption, he is moving there permanently, mentioning he has been away since moving to Japan to become a rikishi.

He plans to reopen the restaurant there possibly under the name “Japanese cuisine TSUNA”.

Putting my conspiracy hat on: could this be a sign he and bestie Hakuho know that the ex-yokozuna will not be allowed to branch-out again? So Ryuho just gave up of ever being an informal trainer and manager to a new Miyagino-beya and is just going back?

He was a coach at Miyagino, if memory serves. I reckon the fact he's leaving for good is not a positive sign for the ex-heya's chances.

EDIT: Aaaand I saw your PS after I'd posted. Oh well. It could be unrelated or just that he doesn't want to live under that uncertainty, but it's all guesswork.

And already the first report about Matsuda at the family business "As the 6th generation owner I want to continue preserving the taste loved by the locals"

His father (72) is still in charge of the cooking, the whole family is managing the restaurant, he is still washing the dishes, cleaning the tables and preparing the coating for ebi-fry and kara-age. Cooking: "I want to go for that without rushing." In the future he wants to add the chanko nabe of the heya to the menu. He also wants to teach the kids at the Matsuo sumo club.

Matsuda is popular everywhere - a news feature about him at the restaurant and also his sumo career, in the end his planned other work at the sumo club

Just saw your edit, sorry for being a month late.

It could definetely be unrelated, he seems like quite a family man so, I can understand the "not wanting to live under uncertainty". I hope its this and not that Isegahama will continue bloated until the end of time and deprive us of some cool matchups.

The shy ex-Tokitsukasa in August has opened a restaurant Hitomishiri (being shy) Udon home in Nagoya's Higashi ward. He had no experience in the food business, about 3 years ago he did construction related work. It took a while till he managed to produce a satisfying udon dish.

A bit different type of business: Shohozan and Azumaryu in an all-you-can-eat sushi&shabu-shabu chain restaurant battle vs. a gluttony queen from TV Tokyo - the 2 together lost by 1.5kg

Last September, Tochinoshin was on this program, together with Tochinowaka (the young) https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1bnbceJEoe/

- Tochinoshin is definitely in the food business (wine & honey), he did this likely also as PR, maybe the 2 here now plan some business like that as well

With all the disgusting news, I need some nicer subjects to cover that

Ex-Raiho - different -ho than we are used to now - has a restaurant Shokuzoo Raihou, home in the Kusu district, Oita http://www.shokuzoo-raihou.show-buy.jp/

header_bg1.jpg

with a nice career pics gallery on his site http://www.shokuzoo-raihou.show-buy.jp/raihouno-geneki.html

a bit less nice, more fitting the present mood in sumo: he broke his arm in maezumo and finished last

now - with his wife and the reporter team http://tosonline.jp/newsp/20250220/00000003.html
