Even if you do strike his 10 wins in juryo from the list, he's still tied first. If you follow the link to the query I did, it's clear that he was counting Makuuchi only, and counting the previous 5 basho plus this one. If you count the 6 most recent completed basho, the numbers should all be way higher, and there you'll see Kotoeko's and Terunofuji's most recent Juryo basho as the one that gets added on. Amamaniac 2,079 Posted May 10, 2021 Today we will see a rematch between Enho and Ura. Definitely one to watch. A little concerned about Enho's loss on Day 1 perhaps messing with his mind. Let's see who has the steel nerves.

Eikokurai 3,437 Posted May 10, 2021 Ura got a strong armlock on Enho there and Enho looks to be in a lot of pain.

Seiyashi 4,108 Posted May 10, 2021 Very nice crane angle giving a good eye of the janome - you can even see the marks made by Kagayaki's shimekomi as he crashed out, but it was a sashichigae and Endo was given the victory. The shimpan can't immediately tell from their angle though - Azumazeki and the timekeeping judge were looking at each other and trying to figure out "is this a mono-ii or not?" before finally raising their hands. The cruel thing is that Enho probably needs one win to be sure of staying in juryo, so even if he pulls out now there would be pressure on him to return later.
Seiyashi 4,108 Posted May 10, 2021 What he heck is this bar brawl between Takayasu and Chiyonokuni? Someone better check If Takayasu stole Shohozan's lucky charm.
Eikokurai 3,437 Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) Asanoyama loses similar to how he won yesterday. Shodai joins him. Terunofuji wins though not as comfortably as he’d like. Takakeisho loses too. Excellent defensive work from Mitakeumi. Awful day for the Ozeki corps. Edited May 10, 2021 by Eikokurai

Yeah, it looks like he may not be at 100% even if he stays to fight another day. Another strong win for Terunofuji. I don't think there is much standing in his way to stop his Yokozuna run. Seiyashi 4,108 Posted May 10, 2021 And in contrast to yesterday, the sanyaku today have a collective meltdown with 3 ozeki and Takanosho losing. Even Terunofuji had some trouble with Hokutofuji and Takayasu didn't look good in his bout, goodness.

Jyuunomori 226 Posted May 10, 2021 (edited) Oof, that's gruesome by Ura. I guess since Enho is a smaller guy, and Ura as a brilliant technique rikishi can beat him in technique or just purely outmuscle him. Two really solid wins by Ura over Enho these past few tournaments. Good for him. But the main topic: Are we really gonna see Terunofuji do the fabled double promotion from Ozeki to Yokozuna in a back-to-back basho? Bonus: Ichinojo didn't quit for some reason as he usually does. Weird seeing him win a long bout. Edited May 10, 2021 by Jyuunomori

His record is one of those that they could really go either way and get no complaint: strong enough to justify it if they want, but with enough plot holes to reasonably reject the idea of promotion. FWIW, I don’t think they’ll bend the rules for him unless he zenshos or does something exceptional like 14-1 with a clean sweep of the other sanyaku. He’s benefited from enough favours in the past, e.g. with his first unorthodox Ozeki promotion, which could make the Kyokai hesitant to do so again. He’s also yet to manage more than 13 wins in a basho which is a minor black mark against a Yokozuna candidate’s name. Two of his three yusho wins were with 12-3 records and none have been at the rank of Ozeki. Perhaps if he already had one Ozeki yusho in the bank?
