It seems his opponents are copying Takagenji's tactic against Enho by using their long arms to swat away the little dude. Well, this (Juryo) may be the rightful place for Enho. Daieisho's slump reaches new depths and Hakhuho looks more and more like he might be Terunofuji's own personal ozeki. Certainly no one else is going to stop Teruno from lifting the cup. Maybe, but he's also clearly put on some additional muscle (and therefore weight) that he didn't have before. I believe he'll have more staying power this time around. The rikishi he used to be would have been intent on blasting Terunofuji out the other side of the dohyo in 1 move. Today he just looked pathetic, hoping for a matta call... Ah well, freebie for Teru. I also remember when Hakuho used to be really mean to Okinoumi. Today's opening face slap was almost affectionate, and then he made sure not to send him flying into the shimpan. Can they both remain unbeaten until senshuraku? Terunofuji has never managed that feat, although he looks capable. All the guys they have left to face are capable of playing spoiler, too. This is a really interesting basho! I'm not just watching these two, but I rarely have anything to add to what's already been said about the hiramaku. I was a little surprised at the hikiotoshi call for Chiyoshoma's win. From the slo-mo it looked like he won by virtue of staying on his feet longest after they simultaneously slipped and lost balance. Remember when we used to think Ura was small? He's never going to be anything other than relatively short, but he's no longer small (his upper body has developed massively since his last makuuchi appearance). I liked Kitanofuji's comment from his own thread " K:"He doesn't look like a rikishi.. Is Ishiura a bodybuilder?" I was a huge fan of ama back in the day because he fought big man sumo. Never even got them close to the clay, and both rikishi were clearly completely out of sync. Watching it I I had a similar reaction to Chiyotairyu - why wasn't that a matta? At the risk of going overly anatomical and sullying your fine joke, a lot of padding can absorb blunt impacts, but it won't help when there's so much evenly spread pressure applied on it! 'Twas ever thus I suppose, but there seems to be more than the usual quotient of walking wounded this time around, especially at the lower end of maku'uchi: Chiyonokuni, Tokushoryu, Tsurugisho, Tochinoshin, Daiamami and Aoiyama all look knackered.
