That Takagenji bout has really hurt Enho in more ways than one.  It seems his opponents are copying Takagenji's tactic against Enho by using their long arms to swat away the little dude.  Well, this (Juryo) may be the rightful place for Enho. I don't see him ever besting his highest rank (M4).

His fellow diminutive stablemate Ishiura, on the other hand, seems to have found a second wind with seven straight wins after losing his first three.

If Enho wants to salvage his career he should hire Ishiura as his personal trainer and start pumping the iron.

Ishiura keeps using the harumafuji "it's not a henka" -  henka from the left (I guess it's better than completely jumping out of the way).

It doesn't seem his fellow lower rankers have caught on to it yet....

It will keep him in makunouchi on the next banzuke, but will probably result in double digit losses (again) in the next basho.

What the ... ? That was like that bout when Hakuho protested the non-matta call. Chiyotairyu should have stood in the 'crowd' and made a fuss. Crap way to go MK.

Anyway, Terunofuji won't get an easier win in his career.

Chiyotairyu looking at the gyoji, expecting a matta. Embarrassingly easy for Teru.

Chiyotairyu just learnt that you go until told to stop.

Unless my dream cones true and I get to fight him.

That's a new usage of the verb "to fight", I think.

Daieisho's slump reaches new depths and Hakhuho looks more and more like he might be Terunofuji's own personal ozeki. Certainly no one else is going to stop Teruno from lifting the cup.

Maybe, but he's also clearly put on some additional muscle (and therefore weight) that he didn't have before. I believe he'll have more staying power this time around.

Whatever happened to Chiyotairyu's cannonball tachi-ai? The rikishi he used to be would have been intent on blasting Terunofuji out the other side of the dohyo in 1 move. Today he just looked pathetic, hoping for a matta call... Ah well, freebie for Teru.

I also remember when Hakuho used to be really mean to Okinoumi. Today's opening face slap was almost affectionate, and then he made sure not to send him flying into the shimpan.

Can they both remain unbeaten until senshuraku? Terunofuji has never managed that feat, although he looks capable. All the guys they have left to face are capable of playing spoiler, too. This is a really interesting basho!

I'm not just watching these two, but I rarely have anything to add to what's already been said about the hiramaku.

I was a little surprised at the hikiotoshi call for Chiyoshoma's win. From the slo-mo it looked like he won by virtue of staying on his feet longest after they simultaneously slipped and lost balance.

Remember when we used to think Ura was small? He's never going to be anything other than relatively short, but he's no longer small (his upper body has developed massively since his last makuuchi appearance). He was the immovable object in the middle of the dohyo today.

Love how, after the Terunofuji-Chiyotairyu bout, the camera zoomed in on Hakuho sitting ringside. I know that's normal when two wrestlers are in the race for the yusho, but it also felt like the cameraman was recalling the time Hakuho lost to Yoshikaze believing the bout to be a matta.

I don't disagree, he is muscular enough to mix it up with the big boys (I just wish he would).

I liked Kitanofuji's comment from his own thread " K:"He doesn't look like a rikishi.. Is Ishiura a bodybuilder?"

I was a huge fan of ama back in the day because he fought big man sumo.

Not that he didn't as harumafuji (he certainly did), but I am a bigger fan of harumafuji's maegashira days.

Ouch. Awkward end to the Kaisei-Kagayaki bout. Not only did Kagayaki lose, but he had to suffer Kaisei landing on and rolling over his face. That's a lot of man to have on your head.

And he landed on him butt-first as well. I cringed.

Terunofuji hand's were about a foot from the dohyo. Never even got them close to the clay, and both rikishi were clearly completely out of sync. Watching it I I had a similar reaction to Chiyotairyu - why wasn't that a matta? I mean, I didn't expect him to win, but it would be nice if the Gyoji could make sure they start it properly.

Regardless of whether it should have been a matta, it's still up to Chiyotairyu to "play to the whistle" and actually offer some resistance once it was clear the bout was going ahead. That was embarrassing.

It looked to me like Kaisei landed on the upper chest, an area where Kagayaki is amply padded.

At the risk of going overly anatomical and sullying your fine joke, a lot of padding can absorb blunt impacts, but it won't help when there's so much evenly spread pressure applied on it!

We seem to have a lot of guys who are obviously not right but gutting it out. 'Twas ever thus I suppose, but there seems to be more than the usual quotient of walking wounded this time around, especially at the lower end of maku'uchi: Chiyonokuni, Tokushoryu, Tsurugisho, Tochinoshin, Daiamami and Aoiyama all look knackered.

He probably didn't notice that kid coming up through Juryo when he (Kitanofuji) retired.  Similar build.  Chiyono- something.

If not for the mawashi and the dohyo, it'd look right at home as a finishing move in puroresu or WWF - the Kaisei Special.
