Jakusotsu 5,981 Posted August 10, 2021 Well, at least the question "all the lonely people, where do they all come from?" is easily answered by the pandemic. 1

It does seem like we are heading for another lockdown, though, as it seems Phizer is good for 6 months, and then you need a boost, which I got today.

Seiyashi 4,097 Posted August 11, 2021 Gaming, unwisely accepting tasks from octogenarians, and messing around with code and data just for the hell of it. I remember when I declined my colleagues' invitation to go clubbing with the legitimate (as in, I meant it completely honestly rather than as a BS way of getting out of things) excuse of "I have a dataset that's waiting to be processed". Could tell from the looks on their faces that they just didn't get it.

Actually, that's one of the major division lines in the population. In that case, I feel in between: I know what you mean, and I know why they don't get it. Sociologists, eh? Not technically one (I don't think my exact job is guessable from this), and it was a pretty long story. Reminds me of the joke about there being 10 types of people - those who understand binary, and those who don't. Edited August 11, 2021 by Seiyashi
yorikiried by fate 2,028 Posted August 11, 2021 I meant myself. It's a side effect of studiying (Old European Flavour) sociology that you inutitively understand a lot of things, all the while staying totally helpless on what to do about anything.
