Fujisan 533 Posted October 25, 2021 Stupid question but will those who where affected by the corona virus scare and couldn't take part retain their rank or be demoted with a 0-15 record? Or do we not know for sure? This question might have been answered elsewhere on forum but I cant find it.

Nothing 'official', but precedent is that they retain their rank, there have been a few instances of very minor demotions (like the e/w switch) if banzuke luck dictated it. This isn't particularly accurate. The only time they haven't retained their exact rank (at least from what I recall) was when everyone in Juryo that was affected was demoted one full rank. http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Banzuke.aspx?b=202101&heya=-1&shusshin=-1&snr=on
Joaoiyama 313 Posted October 25, 2021 Usually i don't play GTB but when i do it's a last minute entry thinking "screw it" because i forgot about Asanoyama after finishing the banzuke with 41 rikishi, so i placed him in the middle and bumped everyone down one slot.

Reonito 1,522 Posted October 27, 2021 I ended up giving Kiribayama K1w. I punted Asanoyama ways further down than I would under normal circumstances. Otherwise very similar.
Wamahada 58 Posted October 27, 2021 I dropped Hakuho from Banzuke and made an M18e slot, maybe not the best idea.

Otherwise very similar. Likewise. Kiribayama-Daieisho is the only difference between mine and Gurowake's up to M7w (I have Kotoeko and Chiyoshoma swapped), then I have Hokutofuji at M8w and Asanoyama at M11w before the "reset"/"breaker" of Ishiura at M12e. While everyone is in roughly the same area and order otherwise (with two sets of EW swaps), I have Kaisei ranked at M17w instead of M16e. 52 points in common, if I counted correctly, but a lot of M(X)w-M(X+1)e swaps. Ganzohnesushi 526 Posted October 27, 2021 No risk, no fun. Given the absence of Hakuho there will be only 7 Sanyaku Rikishi (1 Y, 2 O, 2 S and 2 K), i.e. a maximum of 21 intra-Sanyaku-Bouts. If only one Sanyaku Rikishi goes kyujo in the first few days (or another Covid-caused Heya absence) there might be the risk of days withhout any intra-Sanyaku-Bout. Thus I would not be surprised by the Kyokai to create a 3rd Komusubi slot and I decided to go along with this approach. Expecting a result around 13-2/12-3, otherwise it will be 3-12 or worse Ganzohnesushi

It doesn't really cost you that much compared to what Ganzo did. You miss the 2 points for Hakuho and that's it. The rest of the banzuke shouldn't be affected.
