Kaito 311 Posted February 27, 2022 65. Looking at it now, I feel pretty dumb getting Hokutofuji/Kotonowaka backwards. I'm already aware of two other 65s and I lose the tiebreaker, so no hope of winning.
Reonito 1,519 Posted February 27, 2022 60 here I think; my predictions were on target except for the complete cluster&*^% from M7w to M12e, where the banzuke committe has apparently decided to completely decouple the number of losses from the size of a demotion for those with a make-koshi.
Kintamayama 45,519 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Results-third yusho for Sakura! Congratulations!! 164 players, a record of course. 26 new players, the best getting a 10-5 record (Inazuma). Milestones: Seki Haruaki- 90th basho Okisuruga- 60th basho And that's it.. Thank you for playing and I hope you had fun.. special thanks to Andoreasu and Doitsuyama - without them all this was impossible. See you all next time, and now-on with the Ba-show!! Gurowake 4,100 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Once again I go from first in the rankings to out of the top 10. Hilarious. Netsuzakura who was top 10 after 5 basho and doesn't disappoint to grab 1st place after their 6th. They are dropping a 7-8 too. Also, there once again is someone (Musashibono) with only 5 basho in the top 10. Netsuzakura does hold up their promise from being top 10 in 5 last basho with a 1st place ranking in 6 basho, and is dropping a 7-8 for next basho, so is set to go even higher. This was surprisingly high-scoring, even aside from the outlier that is Sakura.
Hoshotakamoto 259 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Does anyone know the algorithm for computing "points" in the all-time rankings? I gather that it is based on the last 6 with the option of sitting one out. Still not exactly sure of the formula. EDIT: my initial guess is that a number is set for a tournament, then your points are (6 tournaments ago) * 0.5 + (5 tournaments ago) * 0.6 + (4 tournaments ago) * 0.7 + (3 tournaments ago) * 0.8 + (2 tournaments ago) * 0.9 + (last tournament) * 1.0 but this is wild extrapolation from reviewing the scores of "CheeseBeaver" 2nd EDIT: and this is almost entirely confirmed by reviewing "Hokutoyama". still not sure how to determine the monthly calculations that feed into this 3rd EDIT: from reviewing first-timer scores it's clear that points scored in 11/2021 was "points divided by 49.6" and in 1/2022 it was "points divided by 39.2" and I haven't yet arrived at the formula for computing the denominator FINAL EDIT: Ok, so it's just the average of ALL entries. So in theory if a bunch of people entered and scored 0 one month your guesses would be disproportionately valuable for the next 6 tournaments. In summary: monthly score = your score / average of everybody's score ranking is based off of your monthly score + 90% of last monthly + 80% of previous monthly + 70% of six months ago + 60% of 8 months ago + 50% of 10 months ago Edited February 28, 2022 by Hoshotakamoto

Hoshotakamoto 259 Posted February 28, 2022 Just realized I lost 3-4 points by assuming for 15 days (and a month of rest) that Chiyomaru entered as M13 west and Yutakayama entered as M13 east. Note to self: DON'T DO THAT.
Fujisan 533 Posted February 28, 2022 (edited) Congratulations Sakura Another below par performance for me but next time is the one that counts for me,my 6th basho in a row and I will find my true ranking.(now 95) Edited February 28, 2022 by Fujisan

Thinking about it, I was pretty confident about it. Not usually the case. I worked down to Takayasu and then up from the bottom. robnplunder 976 Posted March 7, 2022 10-5 on 53 points, my best ever finish after the last one which I finished close to the last. I feel like I am going back and forth between juryo and lower Makuuchi ranks.

Yubinhaad 11,761 Posted March 9, 2022 Had to put the stats on the back burner for a bit but I've finally gotten around to catching up, so here's a three-basho update. AFTER 2021 KYUSHU: There were two changes to the top ten ranks after this edition, with Flohru and Kotononami dropping out after two and one-basho visits. They are replaced by two returnees, Okisuruga after a one-basho gap, and Sukubidubidu for the first time in just under four years. Nantonoyama's second yusho was won with a score of 76 points, matching the highest scores in GTB history. Equally notable is the 37 Bullseye scores, which also ties the record set by Itachiyama in 2012 Natsu =================================== AFTER 2022 HATSU: Half of the top ten changed after this difficult guess, the five departures being Okisuruga, Oskanohana, Sukubidubidu, Asterix (after two straight kyujo) and Kitakachiyama. They were replaced by a yusho-winning returnee and, remarkably, FOUR newcomers. Gurowake's long-expected hatsu-yusho not only sees him return to the green ranks but also reclaims the #1 rank as well. The quartet of newcomers are Yoshio, Netsuzakura, Tochiyesshin and Goshobiyama - it's only the second time that four players have made their top ten debut in the same basho, the first occasion was back in 2003 Kyushu. Ullishimaru is now GTB's all-time leading points scorer, having surpassed the late Feginowaka's record of 6,102 in this edition. =================================== AFTER 2022 HARU: Three changes to the top ten ranks after the current edition. Dropping out are Gurowake, Nantonoyama and Tochiyesshin - as Gurowake himself mentioned, he does so from the #1 rank for the second time in his career which I don't think has happened before. Replacing them is a veteran returnee and two more newcomers. Susanoo had chalked up 50 basho in green in his career, but the last of them came just over four years ago - he returns now after a 25-basho gap. The debutants this time are DolorousClem and Kyoju. Netsuzakura is the 25th player to claim the #1 rank. Gooner is the 18th player to accumulate 5,000 points, doing so in 96 basho which is equal 3rd-fastest to that milestone. 1
