Thorbjarn 214 Posted March 27, 2022 No matter what happens, I really don't like Takayasu's chances. Wakatakakage pretty much had his number so far. It's just so disheartening. Mitakeumi with 11-4 debute as an Ozeki sure is nothing to sneeze at, especially since he looked mostly good in his matches. I hope he is able to build on that. Now on to the third act in the Yusho race.
Taliesin 68 Posted March 27, 2022 Not even a half-henka imo. Mitakeumi was just reacting.

Taliesin 68 Posted March 27, 2022 "Lord" Shoudai... what a misterious existence. What the hell!!! Well... it just became even more interesting.
Godango 973 Posted March 27, 2022 Hot damn! My boy is back with a shot! Gonna be happy either way really, this is the ending I wanted. But come on TAKAYASU!
robnplunder 975 Posted March 27, 2022 Like I said, it isn't over until Waka beats Shodai which didn't happen. The tension builds even more. Go, Taka!
Godango 973 Posted March 27, 2022 Poor ol' Kotonowaka must be really upset with his loss now.
Thorbjarn 214 Posted March 27, 2022 I sincerely thank Shodai for showing up to forego any discussion about any circumstances, but I only fear more heartbreak. Maybe Takayasu can get going. It actually looked as if Wakatakakage had the match won right at the Tachiai, but then Ozeki Shodai showed up. Gotta go for that hat shopping btw...

Taliesin 68 Posted March 27, 2022 Play-off is the most direct way. It is good that it will be decided by Takayasu and Wakatakakage themselves.
sumoforever 27 Posted March 27, 2022 Objectively this is a very special ending to the basho. Despite the sad viewing in the earlier stages of the basho (Terunofuji injured, Shodai seemingly showing the impact of Long Covid, the Ishiura injury), we've since been treated to a three-man race for the yusho (with three strong rikishi who have never won a basho), and we now have a playoff. One of the more entertaining Day 15s I've seen in recent years.
Eikokurai 3,437 Posted March 27, 2022 Given this has gone to a playoff, the yusho condition for the sansho seems a bit mean. This is a yusho equivalent. Same same.

What a turnaround, the guy is an enigma. Whatever he did after the first six days, he should do it more.
