The caption says he retires with this as his last basho - the actual retirement will surely be at his birthday, when he reaches the mandatory retirement age. Kotochitose is still on the list of wakaimonogashira, so he hasn't retired yet. Edited March 29, 2022 by Akinomaki
Asapedroryu 235 Posted March 31, 2022 No pictures of backstage celebration with supporters and cup? And no car ride? Was interested to know if brothers were present as on some other topic pre basho was mentioned they were not that close.

Canceled to prevent infections, Mitakeumi was lucky to have a parade after the long break, maybe next basho again - but celebrations with supporters were only at the heya. Most basho restrictions get dropped now, car town Nagoya with full house allowed will surely also have a parade again. https://twitter.com/arashiobeya/status/1508725379481374723 this thread needs at least one fish pic 5

Is he one of the youngest* stablemasters to produce a yusho? *In terms of the amount of time being an oyakata.

In terms of amount of time as a stablemaster (as opposed to just oyakata), no one could beat Chiyonoyama, who split off after Hatsu 1967, and his uchi-deshi ozeki Kitanofuji won the yusho the basho after. Yamanashi 3,870 Posted April 6, 2022 FYI: Currently the youngest stablemasters are: Nishonoseki/Kisenosato, Takekuma/Goeido, Tokitsukaze/Tosayutaka, Arashio/Sokokurai, Naruto/Kotooshu, Onomatsu/Daido, Takasago/Asasekiryu; all born in the 1980's.
