More publicity for the fan appreciation event - this time allowing fans to see what it's like to be the gyōji in charge of the PA system in the Kokugikan.

By the way, who else is greatly amused everytime the dohyo-iri announcer is arduously avoiding to tie the shinpan-cho in a knot when switching sides? High-tech nation Japan in the 2020s and they're still using a cable mike. (Beardeddisguise...)

I would have thought the same for mono-ii - surely they could arrange for a lapel mike plus transmitter? Or nowhere to hang the transmitter off?

They could choose to use either a red, green, white, or black one. B-)

On the other hand, no unfortunate running out of battery or shutting off to conserve battery or being on the wrong frequency or otherwise losing connection. The cable may be unwieldy but is more reliable.

I see! That is the cause for all those botched mono-ii calls lately - the wireless earplug!

(...either that or Azumazeki manning the video booth...)

We should ask them about this.  What's their fax number?

You jest but fax is still how media applications for many JSA events must be sent.

Not limited to sumo. Email or online applications are becoming more common each year but fax was still the preferred option for many sports up to a year or two ago.

Hiro seems to have done a tour during Aki, and he's also been allowed to go into the shitakubeya and the shower room (without rikishi in it, though).

Covered elsewhere by Akinomaki for the historic aspect of Kisenosato's portrait being taken down, but I'm dragging it here for the video of the process of actually taking down a yūshō portrait.
