Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted December 11, 2001 Please don't tell the answer to others. ;-) Solution is actually very simple once you realize you must not assume things. (Xmas!)
Hoshifransu 0 Posted December 11, 2001 You said very simple ??? How can this be true ? This is sorcellery ! A minute : I jus' call my friend Harry Potter ...
Doitsuyama 1,178 Posted December 11, 2001 Well, I'll be banished from this forum if I tell the solution, but let me assure you that there is no cheat to trick you, just simple geometry...
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted December 11, 2001 Well, I'll be banished from this forum if I tell the solution, but let me assure you that there is no cheat to trick you, just simple geometry... Hm. I'm not sure I agree with you. Geometry yes, but cheating none-the-less... It depends what one wants to put in that word
Hoshifransu 0 Posted December 11, 2001 Well, I'm not drunk ! How could this be ? Geometry ??? Oh dear ...
Hoshifransu 0 Posted December 11, 2001 It reminds me of tetris ! When you play bad, you make a lot of holes ... And I'm bad at tetris ! I'm going crazy !!! Whaaaaaaat's the solution ??????????????? ;-)
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted December 11, 2001 I'll help a bit. Do not assume the top shape is a triangle. I'm not saying it is nor it isn't. The same with the bottom one which, of course, has that additional "hole" as well. In other words, don't trust your eyes and the initial impression you get from them. ;-)
Manekineko 200 Posted December 11, 2001 If you remember geometry, check out the angles...
Hoshifransu 0 Posted December 12, 2001 I really really really don't know ! But the most impressive to me is to watch firstly the second image and the first one after. You just can fill a hole, like that ! Cool ! Imagine what you can do with a same quantity of gold, of silver, etc.. $$$$$ yeah, cool ! $$$$ (Xmas!)
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted December 12, 2001 I'll help a bit more. The top shape is not a triangle. It's a quadrangle, a shape of four (!) corners. So is the bottom shape except for that "hole". The questions now, of course, are: Where is that fourth corner in the top shape? (Three are obvious.) Where is that fourth one in the bottom one? Why do I keep telling you should not believe your eyes? ;-)
Hoshifransu 0 Posted December 12, 2001 Capito ! So is the junction between the two (component) triangles a fourth angle ! OK ! Really very impressive to believe it's an angle in fact and it's most difficult to accept that fourth new angle has to be bigger in degrees for the first image than for the image below. Both of them firstly sounded like triangles ... It's really well done. We can't believe our eyes, effectively. [
