FantasyBasho 111 Posted December 24, 2022 In my ongoing series "Better Know a Rikishi," I decided to go way back between basho. Specifically to the 1940s and 1950s to look at Rikidozan, who was a Korean farm boy that became a sumo wrestler then a Japanese national icon as a professional wrestler. This also discusses some of the differences between sumo in the post-World War II era and now, as well as the ties between sumo and puroresu. Hope you enjoy it for your Christmas Eve reading. https://www.fantasybasho.com/post/better-know-a-rikishi-rikidozan-mitsuhiro 1
