Hak started his column with a piece on the Ichinojo bout for day 1 and one on Asanoyama-Kawazoe for day 2 https://hochi.news/articles/20220912-OHT1T51206.html?page=1 - Nishonoseki wrote about out-boxer Tobizaru for that day https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2022/09/13/kiji/20220913s00005000063000c.html - also Oguruma, Tamanoi and Fujishima, who writes for sanspo, picked that bout vs. Terunofuji I think Miyagino is the first foreign born oyakata to write a regular column in Japanese for a national paper More and more have their columns, I'll include also those retired from the NSK, ex-Washuyama e.g. writes for Shinmai. Shikoroyama had a column in Asahi, but I think it stopped. Newest writer is Hidenoyama for Tokyo Sports http://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/articles/-/250211 Edited January 9, 2023 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 40,281 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) I was surprised to see something on Abi (Saitama/Chiba) in the Aomori paper Toonippo and found out that local Nishiiwa is writing a column there now. He sees Abi as an ozeki candidate. http://www.toonippo.co.jp/articles/-/1477149 Edited January 11, 2023 by Akinomaki

Another one to look out for is Asanoyama, but he doesn't mention Hoshoryu.
Akinomaki 40,281 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) Wakanosato only had the first article for free, the next was behind the paywall. Akinomaki 40,281 Posted May 10, 2023 Yomiuri has a [相撲論]Sumo Discourse column each basho now, behind the paywall, every time another oyakata. For Hatsu it was Hakkaku, for Haru Shibatayama, now Asakayama. o
Akinomaki 40,281 Posted May 14, 2023 Tamanoi now (also?) writes for Nikkei, about Terunofuji today. We'll see if his daily basho column on Sponichi continues. The two young rival oyakata focus on Kiribayama in their basho outlook columns, Miyagino and Nishonoseki.

Akinomaki 40,281 Posted February 10, 2024 Asahi now also got Konishiki for a new column, but he didn't write it, he talked to some Asahi guy who may be the author of this slightly weird column: Does it have to be fair and square? 正々堂々じゃなきゃ、ダメですか? - in all 3 parts, but there are already 5 parts listed on the page - and from the start half of it behind the paywall https://www.asahi.com/rensai/list.html?id=2065 o o o First part about henka - if it's a problem, why don't ban it? o Hakuho had a 3-part column Hakuho-do in 2021, Shikoroyama one of 30 parts from April 2019 till March last year. Akinomaki 40,281 Posted June 6, 2024 Miyagino has stopped his column at Hochi of course, ex-Oguruma after leaving the NSK now focusses on his writing there, now just as ex-ozeki Kotokaze, Sports Hochi commentator, without a special column like "Oguruma-oyakata No Me". Shibatayama after stepping down as PR top is going on with his column 一刀両断, but not once each basho, skipping regional basho lately - I thought he had stopped after falling from grace with Hakkaku. His column is still kyujo, but Chunichi reports that Kitanofuji made a comment on the gold medal of javelin thrower Kitaguchi at the Olympics, she's from his hometown. He had mentioned her in a column on July 24th 2022. o - any positive news about him are a pleasure
