Akinomaki 40,622 Posted February 15, 2023 (edited) I guess the deadline for applications for Haru has passed (=Nakamura will start for Natsu), to be at the shindeshi kensa for May is YasuTaishi Inoue 井上泰志 (18, 184cm, 145kg) from the sumo club of Kumamoto agricultural high school, younger brother of the new Higonoumi, whom he sees as his rival On 26/12/2022 at 07:33, Yubinhaad said: The most notable change is courtesy of Kise-oyakata (former Maegashira Higonoumi), who has bestowed his own shikona on his deshi Inoue, a fellow Kumamoto native. The new Higonoumi also changes the given name. Due the influence of his father Yasuhiro, a former rikishi, he started with sumo in 6th grade and was in the Kumamoto juniors team at the kokutai last year. He had several times an experience at Kise-beya and joins there in March. He wants to reach juryo within 3 years https://kumanichi.com/articles/947643 the old Higonoumi was at the school on the 14th Edit: actually at the Haru basho kensa Edited May 14, 2023 by Akinomaki

Akinomaki 40,622 Posted February 16, 2023 On 21/10/2022 at 20:50, Akinomaki said: A new recruit for Nishikido-beya, so in March Mitoryu at last will have someone to train with and as tsukebito (the poor guy may also have to be tsukebito for the oyakata) Kenshin Nakamura (15, 165cm, 88kg) plans to join the heya after graduating from middle school in Kakegawa, Shizuoka and have his dohyo debut in Osaka. He had the objective to go to the sumo world in the future since primary school, but there was no opportunity to do sumo in the vicinity, so he did judo from first year on. An acquaintance introduced him to the oyakata and he decided to join, after an experience stay in the heya in August. The rikishi of his aspiration is Mitoryu. The oyakata was with him at the city hall yesterday to report to the deputy mayor that Kakegawa city will have a new rikishi. Nakamura told him as the reason to head for ozumo: "Since I was small, when I watched rikishi I thought them to be strong and attractive". His shikona will be decided from now on, the deputy mayor looks forwards to it. Seems his entry got delayed somehow, the new article says he'll be in maezumo for Natsu. The shikona for this Nakamura (oyakata name and thus disallowed as shikona) was announced at his farewell party in Kakegawa: Katsunishiki 葛錦, taken from the local specialty kuzu 葛, his father and the oyakata thought about it, the reading is for the hope to win, katsu, o 2

Akinomaki 40,622 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) No, still no decision by the main Nakamura, the news clip still only mentions that several heya have approached him Today he got one of the sports awards from Niigata prefecture and talked about his ozumo future: "I can't use the word yokozuna that easily, but everybody aims for that, I'll join a world where one can aim for that, anyhow the objective is to reach sekitori as early as possible" (but for that he should have joined for Haru) o Edit: he got the award for his title at the world games, not for the national titles vid Edited February 24, 2023 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 40,622 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) Nakamura in a local interview confirmed that he'll start at the Natsu basho - Ishikawa TBS special No mention which heya, thus also not which shikona: he said he is sure where he wants to go, he wants to talk it over with the Nittaidai coach and announce it. He already wants to be at that heya for the Haru basho Edited March 6, 2023 by Akinomaki 2
Katooshu 3,251 Posted March 6, 2023 (edited) Nittaidai only wanted Nishonoseki or Naruto for him, didn't they? I wonder if he'd talk it over with his coaches if he had a choice they didn't approve....... If he aims to be with the heya for the coming basho, we should know soon! dingo 1,265 Posted March 7, 2023 He said in the interview that his graduation ceremony is on the 15th. The basho starts on the 12th, so if he'll join the heya during the basho he'll most likely do so only after the graduation ceremony. We'll have to wait a few days longer. Akinomaki 40,622 Posted March 15, 2023 (edited) Nakamura today at the graduation ceremony at Nittaidai received the Ishikawa prefecture sports merit award from the governor, who made a surprise visit to Nittaidai, where he was lecturer in the past - the Niigata award was for the world games title, not for the things that brought him the ms10TD, this one apparently is for the national titles - otherwise he only repeated that he wants to become sekitori as fast as possible o o o Ishikawa TV News clip: https://www.fnn.jp/articles/-/500170 After graduation he wants to join, the graduation ceremony may not be the official date of graduation, so he has an excuse, and he didn't say immediately after either - he may not have convinced the Nittaidai head coach of his choice of heya Edited March 16, 2023 by Akinomaki 2

He gets the award for winning the All Japan in a row - Nittaidai end of January has entered into a cooperation with sumo region Ishikawa to promote sports - maybe now because of Nakamura - 2min. starting at 1h5m12s (embedding and positioning works this time) o Last year he also got the Hokkoku sports award Riji-cho awards at the graduation ceremony: the first 2 are Nakamura (for the 2 All Japan yusho, student championships and world games) and Choijil (for the student championships) - Choijil gets announced as joining Onomatsu after graduation, 3.5min.
