the mayor wants him to promote the name of Kirishima worldwide

he had a special shrine visit at the Kirishima shrine with a purification ritual at the main shrine building, designated national treasure

Feels like forever since we saw a shin-ozeki have to put in the full round of PR and good will visits.

I'm expecting not much more than a basic KK from Kirishima in July...

He said to the mayor that rather than kachikoshi he wants the yusho - he wants to show a strong Kirishima. But now the other 3 on a run have much more motivation for that. I expect a better result for Kirishima than Takakeisho will have, worse than Terunofuji and worse than the 3 sekiwake - I say 10 wins.

We all want the yusho - but it seems like he is spending most of his time celebrating his promotion rather than training.

Well, he would say that, wouldn't he.
He's hardly likely to say "I'm stuck here having my photo taken with you when I could be training, so don't expect miracles, pal."
Even if it's true, it's not the sort of thing rikishi ever say, least of all an ozeki with the eyes of two nations on him.

Who knows maybe the physical rest will prove beneficial, wasn't some part or another bothering him by the end of the last basho?

I am not that familiar with sports rehabilitation, but intense partying is not what I would necessarily call "physical rest". :-D
