Kintamayama 45,527 Posted September 9, 2023 The emphasis this time is that the injury is his back. His Oyakata repeatedly stated his knees are OK after the surgery.

English would allow for some variations -- Oyakata: "So, are your knees feeling great?" Terunofuji: "Nah, just 'OK'." Oyakata to Press: "His knees are OK."
dingo 1,294 Posted September 9, 2023 I guess ok in this context could mean "not worse than usual". However the usual state of his knees is not what you'd exactly call OK...
Akinomaki 40,775 Posted September 9, 2023 The context is that the oyakata said: "The knees and the muscles are in terrific good shape, only the back is not good" - making that shortly OK is OK I think http://www.daily.co.jp/general/2023/09/09/0016791196.shtml 1
Akinomaki 40,775 Posted September 10, 2023 The oyakata didn't tell the truth, so maybe he also lied about the knees Just now, Akinomaki said: Terunofuji is expected to need kyujo till Oct. 8th (rare to see a precise date here - so he'll join the Aki jungyo later on) for disturbance of a vertebral end plate AND diabetes - the oyakata didn't tell the truth here: 11 hours ago, Akinomaki said: the oyakata said: "The knees and the muscles are in terrific good shape, only the back is not good" - not only the back
