JWS Hatsu 2024

Recommended Posts

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! JWS returns to the Sumo Games scene for Hatsu 2024! It is revised, simpler, and will finally be getting sansho added to the basho end prizes, I am looking forward to seeing you all play again. When we left off in Nagoya, Akogyokuseki had won her 3rd yusho, and Achiyama is our newly promoted ozeki for the game. In the division, there are 5 demotions from Makuuchi and new blood down in the bottom of the division. Will we have a battle royale for the division yusho?

Juryo Win Streak (JWS) Rules

1.       Pick one Juryo rikishi daily that you think will win

a.       Pick one default in case of a kyujo

b.       Pick one tiebreaker rikishi

c.       Default and tiebreaker must be different from your main pick

d.       Default and tiebreaker can be the same pick

2.       A correct pick adds to your streak, a loss stops your streak

3.       The player with the longest streak is declared the yusho winner

4.       Juryo rikishi can also be picked in division crossover matches

5.       Picks can be submitted via SurveyMonkey link, email, post in thread, or PM

6.       If you have started playing but miss a daily submission, your previous day picks will be used for the next day

7.       If your main pick gets either a kyujo match, the default pick will be used. If both main and default picks are involved in a kyujo match, your daily picks will count as a loss. It is the responsibility of the player to change their picks in case of kyujo matches

8.       When two or more players tie for the longest streak, tiebreaker criteria is used to determine the winner

Tiebreaker Criteria

1.       Longest streak for daily tiebreaker picks

2.       Most successful picks of rikishi with losing records

3.       Most picks of the least consensus among all players (selecting a rikishi not picked by other players)

4.       Most successful picks of lower ranked rikishi against higher ranked rikishi

5.       Strength of schedule based on the final records of the opponents beaten during main streak

6.       Earliest submissions

7.       Coin flip

Sansho Criteria (Must have KK result, must be in streak)

Shukun-Sho: Most successful picks against a yusho leader after day 7 (leading record only)

Kanto-Sho: Most successful picks of a single rikishi

Gino-Sho: Most successful picks against against a rikishi with a 5 win or more streak

Registration will be open up to the day of the tournament. Players can still enter but it lets me know who is wanting to play.

Submissions deadline will be by 2pm JST (9pm PST/12am EST). Senshuraku picks deadline will be 1:30pm JST (8:30pm PST/11:30pm EST)
