All of you's will never know the absolute elation of picking cleanly a poor injured bastard with a 0-9 record in lower juryo exactly the day he manages to win.

Again you are wrong.... often enough a 0-9 Rikishi suddenly was a 'safe' bet on day 10.... (Laughing...)

It's not smart. It's dirty.

I got so tired of losing while everyone got the win because of a fusen that i set up my alarm to wake me up at 1:30 AM, 30 min before the games deadlines just so i can catch any kyujo announcements, now i can be a cheating scum like all of you. (Heart...)

Had to do the same long time ago. My timezone tends to be around 5-6 am. But I don't have anything per se against picking fusen-pai, as it is also annoying predicting somebody to win because you know his rival is in bad shape and get that win voided because the guy goes kyujo and fusen picks are disallowed. You have to live with that. I'm protesting against picking losers when you should pick winners and getting away with it.

And I'm also protesting(Protesting...) against the mockery of my guy Chiyoshoma. Just you wait @Ganzohnesushi, he's gonna be back in makuuchi in no time, struggling to kachi-koshi like in his best years.

BTW, off topic, if you want to know some weird crap, read why Spain has the same time than Germany being effectively two time zones to the west, which gives us the extra fun fact of Spain having one hour more than UK on the clocks but being further to the west on average.

I'm not bragging about it. But you must admit it is a clever move. Comparable to the many Henkas by  Chiyoshoma....

Ganzohnesushi

Also, Quad players have not felt pain and suffering until there's a two-fusen day and they can't do the safe three points because they do have the fusensho winners but no other match with both rikishi still available to select...

(BTW, apparently I was the only one who went for it again on Day 3 hoping for Hakuoho to pull out alongside Takayasu.)

That feeling when you have eight functional wrestlers in Bench and six of them are fighting each other.

Difficult to get out of a vicious circle when you're in one. It seems that all comes together to pull you even more down I hope you'll manage I'm SURE you'll manage !

I tried to spin it positively as, hey, that's a minimum three wins for my team!

Then I remembered it's also a maximum of five. (Carriedawayonastretcher...)

I "only" have four involved in intra-squad bouts. Lucky me!

Hmm, I was on holiday until today, and put my entries in in a rush. I'm now seeing just how bad some of those entries were...

Think positive. You have three winners guaranteed. Moreover, it could be even worse with four Intra-Bouts.

When I was still active, I took many opportunities to complain (only in private): about the sumo gods, my opponents, or rikishi doing stupid things that ran counter to my predictions. But I never got the hang of the popular Bench-intrateam-bout-complaints. I would really love to know whether those who have more intrateam bouts fare worse than those with less intrateam bouts, statistically speaking. Of course, having intrateam bouts increases the number of losers in your squad. But on the other hand: you observe the rikishi in your squad much more carefully and are probably better in predicting intrateam bout outcomes than other outcomes. Now if someone had a huge database of all Bench sumo bouts in history (wink wink, nudge nudge)...

For me, at least, part of it is how much you view your team as "your guys", as opposed to playing pieces you're moving around to score points. Relatedly, if you picked these guys, it's frequently a lot harder to decide between them because you believe both of them are capable of doing well. So "I don't want to pick between them" and "I don't know who's more likely to win" often get jammed up together.

Even setting that aside, though, the more intra-team bouts you have, the less room for error there is. In this case, for me, the absolute best I could do was put five winners in the lineup. That's really hard. If everyone's fighting non-teammates, then you have a lot more possibilities for finding favorable matchups, and even if you goof a pick, you have more opportunities to win tiebreakers. I'd imagine, for that final reason, that people tend to do worse when they have more intrateam bouts—even when they pick well, they inherently can't secure the same number of tiebreaker wins on the bench, so over time that seems like it should lead to a slightly worse winning percentage.

Ha!

You know as well as I do...the more kyujo, the better!

When are you coming back then?

Unfortunately that database knows nothing about which picks were facing each other on the real dohyo.

We only need a comprehensive database of all the real sumo bouts to be able to cross-reference it with the benchsumo database. Preferably user friendly, easy to query and easy to handle. Then, the automation wizards could do their magic. Get, I dunno, some german guy on it, stat.

The point is: your team isn't a statistical sample, they're cherry-picked to be the best of the best who will dominate each and every bout! Unless they're facing each other, which is lamentable...

Ah, now I know why some players regularly picked Shodai.

Funny, these sumo games. Oortael is leading in Tipspiel but 0-7 in Bench Juryo.

Has anyone ever had a Bench lineup with so many kyujos that they couldn't put out five active wrestlers?

A good question.
