On the 25th, after the rijikai decidesthe ozeki promotion, the banzuke conference realizes it, the messenger from the ichimon with an assistant is sent to the heya in Ami town, Ibaraki, for the dentatsu-shiki. Broadcast live in 7 hours on the net by Asahi TV (the parent company of Abema)

"So we got off the Ueno-Tokyo line at Hachino and got the car to drive out to the heya; they said "turn left onto Highway 25 and it's in the country.  Well, we didn't see it, and the country turned back into city.  So we caught sight of the Hama Sushi and got directions. For the language nerds like me, for his four-kanji saying he went with 唯一無に, yui-itsu-mu-ni, meaning unique or one-and-only, stating 唯一無に力士を目指す, he aims to become a unique rikishi, or I suppose peerless, etc. (any corrections here would be most welcome!) 

Very much looking forward to how his career as ozeki and beyond unfolds!

This is a totally unrealistic scenario. I mean, ex-rikishi complaining about second lunch?

Could he simply change the reading to Dainosato or Tainosato? Never been either of those before.

I'm chuffed to bits to have witnessed the story so far, and I can imagine how happy Nishonoseki-san must be.
Getting a deshi to ozeki before his hair's had time to grow into a proper mage is setting an incredibly high bar.

Totally missed out on the news that Kisenosato got married two years and even now has a child. I always thought of him like Kotoshogiku - unhappy in his love life with a lot of failed relationships. Has Akinomaki reported on this? How could I have missed it?

I posted something on it, though not in the marriage thread - and it looks like it's one of the many of my posts who have disappeared into the void. In the usual thread Kamitsuumi reported it - and then it was forgotten, because Nishonoseki kept her hidden (from the media)

Nishonoseki's marriage had completely passed me by, too. I assumed she was a female relative drafted in for the ceremony.

How the hell has he managed to keep her hidden?
I mean, there must have been reporters hanging around the heya for at least a few months, what with a makuuchi debut yusho and that 'scandal'.

And I was thinking Onosato's rapid promotion was the most impressive thing about him...

She wasn't in the pics for Onosato's first yusho and also cut off in the usual pics of the papers this time - the first pic with her shown came a day later. He ordered the media to respect her privacy, as a so called ordinary member of the public - like Endo's wife, who also nobody has shown yet.

Maybe offtopic and maybe already answered in another thread too, but...if Onosato, Shirokuma and Kayo were team mates in university and all recruited for Nishonoseki beya, it's common the latter went to the new Nakamura beya when ex Yoshikaze branched out? It looks funny to me.

They were all recruited through the connection of Yoshikaze and should all 3 have gone to Nakamura, but Onosato as a special celebrity did chose Kisenosato as shisho from the start and naturally stayed. Shirokuma was somehow persuaded to stay there as well, to have a training partner for Onosato. I guess it would have been better for his health to go with Kayo.

I was thinking the same thing, especially in the photo with the messengers. She is giving some serious “side eye”.

I thought she was notably well rehearsed in the video. When she bowed to the messengers together with Nishonoseki and Onosato, her palms and fingers were arrow-straight, hands at a perfect angle and her forehead almost touched the floor. To my admittedly untrained eye it can't get much more formal than that.

I could have sworn I’ve seen rikishi’s own wives in these ceremonies before. If Onosato were married would his wife be involved, or would Mrs. Nishonoseki still get preference?
