Mattjila 0 Posted November 15, 2004 Folks, can anyone help me with this? I know it's not life-threatening or anything, but it just annoys me. Namely, I can't seem to get Firefox to capture User/Pass combos on Sumogames.com sites, e.g., ISP or Sekitori-toto, while other sites like Sekitori-Quad at anasuya.com seem to let me save passwords. Now, I don't know anything at all about how User/Pass are entered on websites or how Firefox recognizes them, so I'm not sure what's to blame. Is there something on the site that blocks saving passwords, or is it a fault in Firefox? I know that Galeon *can* save passwords (or, at least did years ago when I first started using it) to those sites, so maybe it is Firefox's problem, but I'm not sure how to present it to the devels if so. Thanks for any help, Mattjila
Jakusotsu 5,969 Posted November 15, 2004 Never been able to save them for these games with IE either. Aaah well, keeps brain cells and knuckles in shape... (Whatever above, it is funny...)
jomojo 0 Posted November 15, 2004 Hey, hi there Mattjila! Also known as the infamous Benchsumo drone. Glad to finally run across you in cyberspace. Would you mind me using this opportunity to put to you a couple of questions which have long made me curious ... What broadly is your strategy for playing Benchsumo? And what turned you in your decision never to change your Benchsumo picks on a daily basis during the basho? cheers, jomojo

I swear by Firefox too. It's just a slight drawback, I'm sure..I can't get it to remember the passwords either. So I use Netscape for the sumogames games, and no problem. But Firefox is the best!!! Doitsuyama introduced me to Firefox, and for that I am eternally indebted..

And what turned you in your decision never to change your Benchsumo picks on a daily basis during the basho? You know, it was just laziness. When I first joined I didn't know you could change daily, so I didn't. Once I realized I could, I think I tried it once and did worse for the few days I did. So, I decided to treat it like a hoshitori game. I either guess well, or I don't (either way, I'm going to lose, so I'll lose lazily). Right now, I usually only go and change for injuries that I hear about. Every kyujo sends me on a Sumo game search. But your post inspired me to go and get Tochinonada out of Tochiazuma's way. Watch now friends as Zuma loses!

I'm going to go ask in IRC about it and maybe file a bug. Well, a guy on IRC has said that the problem is that Firefox won't save a password on the sites because of the New and Confirm forms being on the same page. Apparently Firefox can't handle saving passwords on the same page where you can change one as well. I'm trying to find a Bugzilla for this, but no luck so far. I suppose the only way to test it would be to find a sumogames.com page that has the User and Pass fields but not the other two on the same page. Gernobono 466 Posted November 15, 2004 (edited) for me storing passwords on sumogames.com never worked with ie or firefox or any other browser i used in my linuxtimes...... i always thought it comes form being asp-sites rather than php ....the language used in quadrumvirat and s4 i guess...this might be way off, but i always thought that's the reason... @kintamayama i guess doitsuyama showed you the moji-extension....it is great for me to be able to guess kanji written headlines or similar.... Kintamayama 45,116 Posted November 15, 2004 @kintamayamai guess doitsuyama showed you the moji-extension....it is great for me to be able to guess kanji written headlines or similar.... Yes he did, but after version 8, they stopped linking it to Rikai, which is what I use to translate all the stuff I translate. But, instead, they gave a javascript URL, which is even better.. I just click on it and it rikai-zes the whole page. Moji is cool on its own anyway.

Yeah, except Firefox at home on XP won't store the passwords either. Oh well, not a killer, but annoying nonetheless. Now to wait for UDH to come out...am I in last place? Will I force a new Makushita division? Find out soon!

No, I don't use PHP. It's not good for you. (Laughing...) When the browser sees the page, it is HTML. So a browser cannot in any way be affected by what language is used to write the HTML pages. Gernobono 466 Posted November 16, 2004 Could it be bug 217690? it could... but storing passwords on sumogames.com sites never worked in ie either. and as i mentioned before it did not work in galeon, konqueror or any netscape-browser i used....
