Sekitori Sweepstake - January 2025

Recommended Posts

M8W Fashiriteta is granted M8E Roga.

Roga has kept his rank despite an MK last basho.

M8E Kaito might be happy with M6E Takayasu.

Takayasu spent 15 bashos ranked at Ozeki - the last one five years ago.

M16W Kaiowaka will be hoping big things from K1W Wakatakakage.

W5A has had an amazing run of good KKs since his injury saw him demoted to Makushita. Will it continue now he is back in sanyaku?

M9E Jejima has his fingers crossed, as he gets..... M5E Hiradoumi.

Hmmm, ranked on the cusp of the lower joi-jin, Hiradoumi might be an okay pick?

I think Iwadanuki should be on that list too - wouldn’t want to go kyūjō after such a big performance last time…

Oops! My bad. I missed the entry. I'll draw after the above list is done.

M13E Chanko Thief will be stealing away with M3E Gonoyama.

Gonoyama usually performs badly in the joi-jin. :-(

M1E Ryoshishikunin will be running the gauntlet with O1W Hoshoryu.

Another excellent draw, as Hoshoryu is officially on a tsuna run too!

M10W Iwadanuki will hope for another amazing basho, this time with M17W Tokihayate

Tokihayate has won only 40% of his bouts in Makunouchi. Oh.

M15E Getayukata has her hopes pinned on M9W Oshoma.

Oshoma was ranked at M9W in September 2024, and ended up 10-5.

Not sure how I feel about this really. It looks as if he didn't fight last time.Has he recovered from whatever kept him out in November I wonder.

Certainly not my number one pick.

S1E Gusoyama is going all in with M1W Kirishima.

This time last year, Kirishima was an Ozeki.

Lets hope we have Good Kirishima instead of Lame Kirishima.  Still expect at least 7 wins

The goal for 2025 is to completely fill our Makunouchi and Juryo Divisions (and open up Makushita!)

How would this game even handle having more than 70 players? There wouldn’t be enough real life sekitori to give every player a unique one, so something would have to change about the format.

Players ranked in Makushita would/will get a Makushita rikishi.

Still, what would happen with a full slate of Sekitori players but several kyujo Sekitori in Ozumo?

In that case, If I remember correctly, kyujo for the Sekitori will mean also kyujo for the player !
