Tamawashi is the oldest sekitori (a rikishi ranked in either Makunouchi or Juryo). He is now 40 years old.

In 2024, he had two KKs (8-7 for both) and four MKs (7-8 in all of them). In 2023, he had three KKs and three MKs. Back in 2022, he actually won a yusho!

Will he hang up his mawashi now he is 40?

Please include your predictions (be as precise as you can!) in the comments below. :-)

Please also include in your comment your guess for either

a) Tamawashi's rank on the January 2026 banzuke

or

b) Tamawashi's final banzuke rank before he goes intai in 2025

(These might well be used as a tie-breaker!)

As long as he stays mid megashira , will continue his 8-7, 7-8 probably dropping off near Kyushu 2025, or im dead wrong and he retires after Nagoya. J5E

He will still be somewhere in mid maegashira next year.   I'll say M6E.

He's on the decline. A single 8-7 KK. Five MKs of 7-8 or 6-9. No retirement. M17E for January 2026.
