London koen- October 2025

Recommended Posts

No tickets yet, but Royal Albert Hall's page for the event had its illustrative cover photo replaced. Out goes Terunofuji, in comes Hoshoryu's yokozuna dohyo-iri.

Surprisingly efficient, they really are putting lots of eggs on this 'big bad yokozuna that everyone wants to beat' basket.

"Only" £1.000 for ringside seats, pretty cheap compared to the Paris event...

I presume you're looking at the VIP Reception package?

I wonder what the main prize will be this time?

Takayasu hopes it's not another air-conditioner. :-D

Unfortunately as a 58-year-old gin-drinker I can only get £20 each for my kidneys and apparently I need at least one to live. Looks like the koen will have to manage without me this time.

What are the prices for the different categories?

50 pounds for the standing gallery, starting from 100 for any seat (after fees and such).

This is member pre-sale, by the way. General sale on Saturday.

It's probably cheaper to fly to Japan for the real deal.

As the website stated prices would vary according to demand, and it hasn't immediately sold out, I reckon it might be worth hanging on 'til the last minute for a bargain.

A lot of tickets are already sold out for pre-sale; also, scalpers are already offering them at a hefty mark-up.

Dynamic pricing can only make it worse, I am afraid.

Meh. Fingers crossed it doesn't get much worse until general sale opens, which is when I'm looking to pounce.

2026 in Paris is even more expensive.

I didn't see this coming, but well over 6500 people/bots joined the general sale queue when it opened. I'm not so sure I'll be in, after all.

Only 240+£ tickets are left for Sunday. 800+£ for Saturday.

Weekdays also limited; <150£ tickets only left for Friday.

See you there Wednesday! I might pop around on the other days but won't be attending.

I HATE VIAGOGO!

Greedy bastards. Cheapest left for Saturday is €293. Including fees and whatnot, it is €436. No, thanks. F****g vultures!

Viagogo is Scalpers' Paradise, sadly. I avoid it at almost all costs.

Sadly I think people's best chances now reside in being in a quasi permanent lookout for cancellations.

I feel like I underestimated how many people would come from all over the world for this. I genuinely thought it'd be a bit of a breeze to get tickets.

Back when John Gunning started teasing it in 2021 I had delusions of sitting ringside every day because nobody would want to go...

(Mickey...) I tried to warn people.

Been writing and posting for almost five years about unprecedented demand for sumo content from overseas.
As I’ve said elsewhere its up between 600% and 2000% depending on outlet since the pandemic began.

Ah, well, the date was inconvenient anyway and travelling to London is expensive.

It's cheaper to fly to Japan to watch the real deal. But October was such a convenient time for me...
