Kirishima's 2025 - going back up?

Kirishima dropped from the rank of Ozeki in 2024. In the very last basho of the year, he got an MK at the rank of Sekiwake, and so (probably) will start 2025 in the joi-jin.

So, how will 2025 pan out for him?

Kirishima will get back to Ozeki in 2025

Kirishima will go back to Kiribayama.

He'll do okay but will have at least one diabolical basho where he gets only 3 or 4 wins and so won't have enough consistency to do any better than lower sanyaku. He has the talent but not the consistency and he's shown that if he's carrying any type of injury he struggles. Last year I said he'd get the rope and I was wrong, so I'm going with what I saw in 2024

Still hoping that Kirishima will find back is former shape and get back his Ozeki rank. 3 basho at 11 wins, 2 at 10, 1 at 9.

He won't get back to Ozeki, but he will be a lower sanyaku stalwart. He will lose to a yusho hopeful lower ranked rikishi at some stage during the year, that has been sent up the banzuke to meet some sanyaku opposition.
